No. The male line is basically of German origin. From the time of George I in 1714 until the death of Victoria in 1901 it was the House of Hanover. Edward VII, being a child of Prince Albert (Victoria's husband) was of the house of Saxe-Coburg. George V changed it to Windsor in 1917 because of the first World War and because they wanted to play down their German origin.
The name Windsor was taken from Windsor Castle which was one of their main residences.

Firstly, if you are truly British yourself, you should be able to spell the English Language properly. All families have relations from here and there and our Royal Family is no different. If you came from a foreign sounding name you would carry that name on for generations unless or until you changed it. This is exactly what George V did in 1917 in response to the wishes of the British People. Windsor is not made up, it has been adopted from the place name Windsor, long associated with Royalty from the time of William the Conqueror in 1066 and he wasn't English either!

There is hardly anyone in the British Isles who is truely British, some of the people in Wales who live in remote areas may qualify. The country has been invaded by the Vikings, Normans, Saxons, Romans etc. What's the worry ?

On my trip to the Ukraine the tour guide pointed out a statue of some, "whatever" the wise, Event though I didn't get his name what he did could answer your question. The reason he was called, "The wise" is because he stopped wars in Europe by marrying his sons and daughters to royal families from Greece to Sweden. So I think all the royal families are simply considered blue blood and related in some fashion.

Nope. They are Germanic and changed the name during WWII or before to the Windsors. Diana was more Brit than that crowd.
