It is a DX6440, if that helps at all.

You have more problems than just the lens if it came off. Light that couldn't get in before can get in now. It will probably cost more to repair than it is worth. Best to get another camera.

Probably not. Chances are whatever broke that allowed the lens to come off, is still broken. This means that you'd need a new part, which you cannot buy, let alone get at. You have neither the procedures nor the equipment to reinstall and align a lens. These cameras just aren't designed for user servicing. Those days are over.

The DX6440 wasn't a bad camera in it's day- but being a 3 year old design, cameras have come a long way since then.

Now- here's the good news: For just a little more than it would cost to repair it, you can get something newer, faster, better and cuter. So plan on parting with $300 and enjoying your brand new digicam. There are a lot of great new models out there.

No, take it to a camera repair and ask for an estimate for repairs ...do it in writing if you decide to have them repair it. If it's more than the replacemnet costs.. just get a new camera.

Sounds like an excellent excuse for an upgrade ;-)
