Ok since none of these people actually read the question and think you hit a POLE and not a POT HOLE their answers don't really count. A radiator is not that expensive. I'd guess around $200 for the parts and depending on what you did to the transmission it'll be up to $1,000 and $1,200 is less than a down payment on anything new even another Neon. I say if you like it and can afford to fix it it'll be cheaper long run for you. And next time swerve.

Without pictures it is hard to say, how about you get some pics of it. But if you decide it is not worth fixing there are enough neon fanatics out there you could sell what is left of the car on ebay for some good money. Low mileage = lots of good parts! Just don't buy a chevy or a honda, they are rustbuckets and arent deserving of the reputation uninformed people give them. (hee hee it is so easy to make some people mad) If you do decide to fix your neon, they made millions of them so finding parts will not be hard. Many of the parts for 2000-2002 are the same, and alot of the parts for 2003-2005 are the same. If you do need a new transmission, be sure to match up the correct one, they used 2 different automatics and 2 different manuals from 2000-2005. If you need any specific advise let me know.

I have a friend who had a Dodge Neon that gave him nothing but trouble for over a year. He finally abandoned the car at the dealer's where he bought it. He had $2000 left to pay on it. The dealer NEVER said a word, nor did he go after the $2000 he was owed. That alone speaks volumes about the worth of a Neon. Dump it asap!!

Good luck!!

No. Total it, and if you have the time and money, which by your choice of automobile I say no, to store it, part it out, and sell the parts on eBay. Just get a nice check from the ins. company, say goodbye, and be happy knowing that your car will be a donor to keep other neons on the road for years to come. Until it gets crushed and sold to Japa to be melted and turned into a much better Honda. It's definitely not worth it. Get a Honda, and go to school so you can afford a nicer car.

There is probably a lot of body damage.

The trans is far back. I have trouble believing it got damaged on a pole unless you were really going fast. Radiator is no big deal. Trans will cost maybe 1000.

I'm pretty sure you will get more out of it if you put the money in to fix it, and then sell it. The alternative is 200 of scrap metal.

If you are fully insured and you get paid anyway, then it really doesn't matter.

If you don't fix it that means you have the cash money to buy another car. or you intend to buy another car with the cash you were going to use to fix it.

Even a P.O.S. Neon with 58K is worth a couple thousand $. Decide how much you like the car & how much you have saved to buy another car.

"wingameover" has the right answer, the rest of you need to learn to read. Also to the guy who's friend defaulted on his car loan...they didn't go after him for the money, but has he looked at his credit rating lately...? Probably has a nasty mark on it titled "REPOSSESSION"
