If they do believe they existed, and suppose they hadn't died out, would they have been able to go to heaven - as they're a different species from us?

Neaderthals WERE NOT stupid. They had language, art and religion, in short they were just as intelligent as homo sapiens at the time, possibly even more so - as they had techniques of tool making that homo sapiens didn't. The belief that they were stupid has long since been ruled out.

Neanderthals were of a different species. DNA studies can prove that, and it is not desputed. They are of the genus "homo", as are we, but they split off from our common ancestors and became the species "h. neanderthalis" wheras we became "h. sapiens" - or so says science. The point of my question is what do religious people think about that? I'm not implying they're our ancestors - because they're not.

I'm a Christian and I do not deny Neanderthals... we know they existed b/c we have their bones, just like we know dinosaurs existed. In my opinion, they were apart of the preadomite world.. the world before Adam and Eve--- Remember, God told Adam and Eve to go out and REplenish the Earth. So, something had to exist before them. I know we talk about a 7 day creation, but remember God's timing is different and 1 day could be 1,000 years to him.

They were of the human species.

23 But what of those so-called "prehistoric" men one frequently hears about? Some of such fossil remains are not human at all, but are animal. Others are simply varieties of the human family who were living at the same time "modern-type" man was, just as today there are many sizes and shapes in different living peoples. The Neanderthal man was at one time regarded as "prehistoric," an ancestor of modern man in the evolution scale, but note what an encyclopedia now says: "Neanderthal man cannot be regarded as an ancestor of modern man. Neanderthal man and men of the modern type . . . must be looked upon as descendants of a common ancestor."

24 Many of these so-called "prehistoric" men were not a "low" type at all. Of those who are called "Cro-Magnon" a university professor stated: "The Cro-Magnon race . . . are conservatively appraised as on a par with the finest stock today intellectually and physically." Another scientist reported: "These men represent in many ways the finest type the world has ever seen." Embarrassingly for those who persist in believing the speculation of evolution, Science Digest (April 1961) said: "Since the Cro-Magnon man . . . the human brain has been decreasing in size." How accurate the simple Genesis account of man's creation, his fall into sin and subsequent degeneration!

I consider myself religious. I believe the Bible is absolutely true, even when it appears to contradict itself. I know neanderthals existed. I see nothing in the Bible that contradicts this fact. Can dogs, cats or Neanderthals go to heaven? I do not know, I will ask when I get there.

I'd like to know the answer to this question too.
Do they deny the existence of Neanderthal man? What about Australopithicus? Do they deny the existence of them too?

hmm well, if neaderthals existed. that makes humans nowadays look even more dumb. God made and Adam and Eve and they were perfect when He made them. Adam named all of the animals (Genesis 2:20). If Adam was stupid, how could he name the billions of animals????
