Your dog eats grass to help it digest the fur it licks off itself. Just lick a cat it cannot digest fur, and that gives it a stomach ache. The acid in grass helps him digest it better.

Dogs may eat grass when they have an upset stomach in order to cause vomiting. The grass will bind with the offending material. Then the grass acts as an irritant and causes the dog to vomit, bringing up the poisonous material at the same time. Or it might be that he just 'likes it'! In any case, grass eating is basically a normal behavior, and is not of concern unless your dog does it excessively.

This can be the case, some dogs eat grass to help with digestion- however this behavior is usually followed by the dog throwing up. If your dog seems to be really sick, monitor its symptoms and take him/her to the vet. However this is something that occurs often with dogs, and it is nothing to be alarmed about. There are dogs who do have upset stomachs and throw up-they use the grass as an 'herbal medicine'. Some dogs just like to eat grass. Unless your dog is looking very sick, there is nothing to worry about with this behavior.

Dogs don't always eat grass because they feel ill, they actually like the taste of it. this is why some dogs given the chance will just go out and eat the long grass. Others do eat it because of upset stomach, I wouldn't be too concerned about it until he starts mooing.

Generally when rain or a thunderstorm is on its way, its also something they do to either settle their tummy or make themselves sick, my dog is so frightened of the thunder she starts to eat grass 24 hours before a storm, just love how she knows that, but don't worry its just a dog thing OK.
