any program, and i mean ANY program that you run on your machine, will slow down the performance of your mahince, regardless of the application

if you have a decent processor etc, you shouldnt even be able to notice the difference, but there WILL be a difference.

the slower the machine, the more noticable it is

Not that I know of. You are better off having it and keeping spyware and all the bad stuff it finds off your system...

Just don't try to force the computer to do too much at once when it's scanning and it should be fine, and for me I see no slow down when it's not in use.

Yeah, if it's running a scan/updating database, it will slow down you computer due to CPU usage. You might try scanning yourself manually or setting the time for a time when you will be away or sleeping.

Yes when ur running a quick or full system scan. Windows Defender (Microsoft) is the best spyware available.
