My younger son came in and asked for a banny (band-aid). For as long as I can remember these type of words have evolved from my children. My oldest had a few but the word juke (juice) sticks out the most;even over boppy (blankie). The wife and I were puzzled until we asked him to show us what it was. But of all the words that have come about, the younger sons' word....nin....is still a puzzler. It's like a universal word for everything. He is coming out of it though and using it less and less. What I'm wondering is ....what words have your children "made up" that have confused you ?

Mastasheen.

We were on a five-hour car trip to visit my grandparents one day, and my sister (five at the time) kept telling us about mastasheens. It took us about 2.5 hours to figure out that she only said it when we passed water towers. We found out for sure at the next town when we pointed to the water tower and found out it was a mastasheen. ;) That's the weirdest. We've also had Bye-Bye Car, Uggs (eggs), Yu-oh (Rachael), Pusneggi (spaghetti). *shrug* Kids're a hoot. ^_^

My two sons had "their own language" too. I think all do. The cutest was Cody (my first son) and I were on a playground running in the tall grass and chasing "Buddypies" (Butterflies). I will never forget that day as long as I live. Those words stay with you and are beautiful memories of bliss and innocence.

My oldest daughter (3) when speaking to both my husband and I at the same time will call us Moddy or Dammy. My Son (2) will replace the first letter to most words with another letter ie.. fan=lan, Chugga (for the train noise)= kugga.
Kids are cute when the speak their weird words.

I don't have kids, but I was told that my favorite phrase was " Yite Mama, Yite!" Naturally kids are afraid of the dark so it only takes on guess to know this one. Ive been ragged about ever since.

Of course the always comedic universal word used by all kids is DOOKIE. LOL

Shakespeare used words that weren't known. Shakespeare is the greatest playwright of all time, arguably the greatest writer of all time.

Perhaps you might want to start a dictionary of words that children use. Probably be a great money maker, and funny.

My kids used cute word shortcuts, but the only one I didn't figure out was when my son called our dog, Kobe...Moosey! I thought it was his own lil 'pet' name for him ((pun intended)) ; )
I admit, my nickname for the dog was dumdum.

My son called sandwiches, sammy. His blanket, cubby. There are so many to name!
My daughter pronouned girl, like a jersey geel....LOL, it was one of my fav.s bcuz if she was in trouble, she'd say, "Momma, I'm just a geel!" & that was way before Gwen Steffani's "I"m Just a Girl" song.

My 5 year old still pronounces Thank wrong.... he used to say "yank you", then "w**k you", now it's "fank you".... practice makes perfect, afterall... he will have it in no time!

this is a test for you because each parent learns the individual languages of their children. my sons words were masagine for magazine and do dos for doughnut. he had an aunt phyliss but he ended up called her pillis so once you get use to it you are the only one who will have the gift to decipher it.

I don't have kids, but when I was little, I had a few. The radio towers that you see blinking the red lights at night, those were "bleeps" and band-aids for me were "rambangs" but other than that, I was a pretty articulate child. Mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom.... you get the picture!
