Yes cats will chew on almost anything. I have had cats and some of the things they would chew on were pretty strange. They love plastic and plastic bags. They also love the cellophane wrappers from candies and other things.

Yes I guess it is normal. It is a condition called Pica. I contacted a vet about my cat doing this. About the only thing to do is keep dangerous things out of his reach (like you would for a child) My kitty who is very very well feed..lol was chewing on plastic bags..especially the plastic that is wrapped around toilet paper...I just keep it off the floor and he leaves it alone.

Two of our cats liked chewing & shredding paper. More often the one we have now just bats around toys - but he also gives us love nips on the toes. I have been thinking of getting him a long stuffed ferret if I can find one, bc he likes hugging things, biting & kicking at the same time. He has lots of energy - he's only 10 mos. old.

For a young cat or kitten, yes. At least, until you teach them not to chew on certain things. I still have to yell at my young male about chewing on a wicker basket I use to store sheets, but he's not as bad as he used to be.

Mine does! She's crazy. I think it's normal. She's also quite playful for an older cat and she likes to lick random things, too.
Don't be scared. Cats are quirky like that.

my cats chew on everything. they have given themselves papercuts and bled all over my books because they were chewing on the pages. they chew on loose tape, ribbons, my hair, my fingers, pretty much anything i don't keep on my own person. let me tell you, it is quite annoying to wake up in the middle of the night to my cats gagging because they are chewing on loose packing tape on boxes. i always have to keep pairs of socks on my nightstand so i can chuck them in the general direction of the noise to make them stop!
