I also heard if you sleep right after youeat you actually wake up more tired since your body is using energy to digest the food instead of resting. Is that true? Can this bad habit cause harm?

For one your stomach has to work so hard to digest that food before bed or while sleeping. Second, dont forget to think of the bad fats you are having go through your body so slowly and that they are causing your insulin levels to go very high which in turn makes you tired when you wake up and not to mention the bad fats clogging them arteries. Ever eat sugary or bad foods and feel a high? Then you feel very tired later? Your body is crashing from the high level of insulin your body had to make to get this food going through your body. You are going to really cause major health issues if you dont change some eating habits. Hope this helps.

Well it won't cause harm per say but it's very unhealthy.
Do you work shift? Is it why you eat before you go to bed? If so, what you can do is eat 2 hours before your bed time (or most likely bed time). But eat something light like a bowl of Cheerios , a yogurt, toasts, bowl of soup.

That way you shouldn't be hungry at bed time.

It is true that sleeping with a full stomach makes you groggy the next morning. Your metabolism slows down when you sleep, so the digestion process is also slowed down. All the good food sits in your stomach for a longer period than usual and starts rotting and the good nutrients are not used. Your body also spent energy digesting the food instead of repairing itself.

Not a great habit, but you can change that! You'll find that by eating at least 2-3 hours before bed that you may loose weight and you'll definitely feel better.

It interrupts with the quality of sleep and Yes your digestive system is hard at work digesting what you ate before bed. Try eating earlier and go lighter. They say we should eat before 6:00 p.m.

It's bad to eat before you go to bed, and it's even worse to eat fatty foods before bed..eating late at night will make you gain weight..If i were you I would eat at least 2 or 3 hours before turning in.

You will get fat, but you can always balance it out with exercise. I have a similar problem, too, except I have to eat before I sleep or else there's no way I can get a good night's rest. I choose that over a light, sleepless night.

eatting anything and then going to bed is the worst thing you can do. your body is not going to burn it up so it will get turned into fat. You should stop eatting 4 hours before bedtime.
