getting the cat fixed does'nt always work, mine was done at five months, and he still pees on the curtains, you can get a product from the vet called Feliway, which you can spray on the areas he sprays on, in the meantime, wash everything down with washing powder diluted in water, it will destroy the piddle enzymes, you have to try to get rid of the scent, as he will go wherever he can smell where hes gone before.

I have 2 cats and HAD the same problem- I tried the most expesive stuff costing us around $150.00 and then also called a company called Chem-Dry(very expensive!) That did NOT work either because the pee and "spray" has soaked into the padding of the carpet...Then I found Urine-Gone for only $19.99 a bottle and it works GREAT!! and NOOOO more nasty smells!! You can buy it at Wallgreen's , Boscov's or get it on line on AS SEEN ON TV.com. Good luck!

Well get the cat spayed or nuetered. Then it will stop making that smell. But I agree with one of the other people I think it's amonia. If it's on the carpet I would get it steam cleaned.

Use biological washing powder diluted in warm water. Soak the area thoroughly, blot up excess with kitchen paper. When dry, mist it with surgical spirit (or any other alcohol - assuming you've not drunk it to blot out the smell)
Feed the cat from the area that it marks - they will not spray where they eat or sleep (assuming it has been neutered)

ask a vet; they can tell you how to get rid of the smell, and how to stop your cat from spraying. I assume you have had the cat neutered????? If not, the spraying is your own fault; cats should be neutered at 5 to 6 months old.

get the cat done at the vets and never never clean areas with bleach- the cat will just mistake it for another cats pee and it will just try to mask the smell by putting its own smell on it time and time again-i think citronella will work or rub fresh orange/lemon peel everywhere good luck xx

Hi! The best solution I've used: use Baking Soda. put baking soda on the top of the stains, cover with cat litter, (put baking soda again on top of the cat litter-ths not necessarily), cover with small/medium towel. Leave it 24 hours, then vacuum.

Dont use bleach! Careful when you use shampoo, etc.. it sometimes react bad (you even get worse smell) with cat urine because cat urine contains amoniac

Hope it helps

There's a product called Urine Gone you can get over the internet, off of TV ads, or at Wal-Mart (and other stores) that is supposed to remove the smell as well as the residue.

I'd also talk to employees at pet supply stores and see what they'd reccomend.

I think you mean spraying - if it's your cat, castration is the answer. If it's other males visiting your female, get her spayed and wash sprayed site with dilute Jeyes fluid. It smells, but better than tomcat and they dislike the smell more than you will.

Get the cat fixed, and while he's in the hospital replace the carpet and either replace the flooring or use a sealant on it.

Good luck!
