My husband and I live in Iowa with our little mini doxie Cammi. We are looking at getting another one and are having trouble finding any in our area. We would love to find one in the shelter to save but haven't had luck there either. Anyone from Iowa or close have a suggestion?

go to petfinders.com.....this is a site for rescue groups.....just put in your zip code, and be AMAZED at how many choices you have .....i adopted a Great Pyrenees mix from them, and my dog Sylvester is great!!....check it out....try it.....do a good deed....adopt a dog !!.....good luck to you !!....

You should also check out the Dachshund Club of America if you decide to go through a breeder. You definitely want to be careful--dachshunds are prone to several life-threatening and sudden genetic issues, so I'd recommend doing your homework on this one! Here's the site:

please keep trying at the shelter, that is the best thing you can do. also try petfinder.com. one will turn up at the shelter, just be patient. all good things are well worth the wait and that also includes shelter dogs!! good luck to you!
