I smoke. I know boo boo. But I don't smoke in public. I smoke in my back yard though. Never in my house. I hate it when I'm at the bus stop and someone's smoking and my son is sitting there and they just smoke away. I NEVER smoke near my boy. I tell him to get away from the rude person because if I'm not going to posion him nobody else is either. I never smoke near anyone. I'm alone a lot. LOL But it's my own fault and it's not my right to force anyone else to inhale my smoke!

I am a smoker and I can understand why it would be rude of me to smoke in a public area that is indoors. But there is no reason not to allow smoking in public outdoor places. If a car can drive by or in the immediate area then my little cigarette certainly isn't going to hurt anything. I've always endured the whole non smoking buildings rules. But now that they are starting to ban smoking in outdoor places it just ticks me off.

Answering this question as a smoker, I agree with banning it in restaurants, hospitals and such. I feel they should allow an establishment that is strictly operating as either a bar, tavern or saloon to have to option of allowing smoking. Drinkers who smoke just smoke more when they drink. If it's just a place to hang out and have a few, I think the owner's of the establishments should be the ones to make the call. They know their customers best.

I think it's OK to smoke in public places, but outside only, and the ashtrays should be placed at a distance from the doors...not immediately outside.
As for smoking inside...no, I don't think this is right. You never know who is asthmatic or who has emphysema or who is getting over a case of bronchitis.
Yes, I smoke.

It was banned here as of March 1, '06. You can't smoke anywhere. I don't smoke but my friend does and when we go out to dinner he has to go outside to smoke. We went to watch a game at a bar and he couldn't even smoke there. I still think there should be designated areas for people who smoke. Why should it be all for non-smokers? What's fair is fair!

I used to smoke but I quit 15 years ago. In schools, courthouses, government buildings, buildings owned by the public, etc. smoking should be banned. In retail stores, malls, were goods can be harmed by absorbing smoke odor, smoking should be banned. In restaurants, bars, etc. I would prefer not to have smoke but it should be up to the owner to decide whether to allow smoking or not.

I don't think it should be legal. There are too many people that can't handle it. I think it's okay in bars because that's to be expected. But having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in the pool!

I don't care if they die. As long as they don't bring me down with them. Smokers shouldn't smoke in public because second hand smoke is not healthy. It makes the second-hand people suffer more.

Disgusting. I am so tired of walking through smoke to get into restaurants, stores, and hospitals, and we cannot go to an outside event, such as fireworks, without the person beside us lighting up and it being the air my grandson has to breathe.
