The usual tour of duty in Iraq (NOT IRAK) is 7-14 months for the Marine Corps, and 2 years for the army.

uhm guys.. it's spelled with a K in countries other than the US. In fact, that IS the proper spelling of it, as it's how THEY themselves spell it once you've transated the Persian/Farsi alphabet.
But yes, deployments to the sandbox can indeed be upwards of 18-24 months at a time. Also, some people may only spend a month or two in the states before going back(this happened to my Army Medic cousin) between year long deployments.

The mission always comes first and if the military needs him there, that's where he is gonna be. That being said, it is rare that the military keep soldiers in Iraq for over a year straight. It is just too stressful on the soldiers and I think the military has to pay them loads of extra per diem (prob. depends on branch too) for everyday over a year they are there.
If you are trying to track down your ex for a legit. reason, start by calling the unit he is in or the base where he is stationed from.

First off, its Iraq. Thats I-R-A-Q. I cant believe there are people in this country that are so stupid that they cant spell the country we're at war with [or occupying, whatever], especially when its a whopping 4 letters.
Second, he's your EX-HUSBAND. Maybe he and his NEW WIFE dont want you bothering him. You're probably ex's for a reason.
Get a life.

You really ought to be able to spell the name of the country we have been occupying for the past 3 years!
But to answer your question, it is entirely possible that his tour was extended for another six months.

talking from an Air pressure stand element, once you've been to enlist interior the USAF, your family participants could be waiting to bypass to and fro with you the position ever you get stationed, no bear in mind if its family participants participants or overseas places. looking on your AFSC (interest) you may be able to or could probably now no longer get deployed; or you've a low probability of having deployed, yet which could in easy words very last for a pair of months. so a lengthy way as i comprehend, each and each branch has the similar pay, in accordance to rank and how lengthy you've been in enlisted. i'm uncertain with connection with the pay for officials. also, pay can strengthen in case you get carry of bonuses for you AFSC - no bear in mind if its from flight pay(Airborne challenge platforms, Airborne Cryptologics) or your interest is risky(once you've been a PJ or TACP). If money is your substantial function of each branch in determining which to connect, you're prepared to strongly think again. To make your contract surprising fairly incredibly surely worth the time interior the military, you're prepared to connect for a extreme-astounding objective.
