tipping has become a trend that I wish would stop. nowadays, you have to tip everyone. i think salons have a different person to wash your hair than cut it so you feel obligated to tip more. next thing you know, one person will wash, one will comb, one will cut and one will style. whoever came up with tipping should be flogged!

depends if you liked the hair cut or not, if it was just ok then 10% if you really liked it and couldn't have been happier 20% otherwise i just stick to 15% is safe and you can't get that mad about it....we charge 12 dollars for our hair cuts and i'm pretty happy with at least a 3-4 dollar tip but with 38 i would probably expect at least 6-7

Holy cow, if you're paying $38 for a haircut why would they need a tip? Now if you're getting other stuff done too that's different. I don't go with percentage, I would give them $45.

15% on anything less than $50.00. 20% on anything above. (unless of course they rushed through and/or did a crappy job)...but I always tip as long as they do a good job and seemed to take their time...
And for all... YES it IS appropriate to tip at a salon...(not just a restaurant)...anywhere you are being waited on and served you normally (not always but normally) tip..and if you think someone standing over you cutting your hair, dying your hair/and or styling your hair (sometimes for several hours) isn't serving you?...you are wrong. Remember they only get a very small percentage of what you pay to the salon for their services....so tip them..and if they did a really great job?..tip them generously.

It depends on how much work it is - if it is just a trim or layer, maybe 10%. If it is more difficult, your tip should range from 15 - 20%.

i dont see the point of tipping. Your paying them to do your hair they dont do anything extra. at a restaurant they at least have to take your oreder and bring you the food. I say dont tip and you pay $38 for a haircut?? your crazy

usually 10%, but it also according to how well that you like the cut. If you really like it (and the stylist) then you might want to tip 15%.
