Canada is rich in resources (it also sells more Oil to the U.S. than any other country), already its biggest trading partner (Ontario alone is doing more than Japan) and has no military to stop the U.S.. It's the second biggest country on earth yet only has 1/10 of the U.S. population.
Who would and especially who could stop the U.S. ?
In the longterm......

WTF - Canada is NOT under the rule of the British, Canada is only part of the Commonwealth.
Canada's (+ Alaska + Texax + offshore) oil would be enough. Screw the middle east.
Trade wouldn't end - it would just be within the country.

As for Justin - get your facts straight regarding borders !

P.S. I'm just playing Devil's advocat - I'm CANADIAN and hell would freeze over (it's 37 Degrees Celsius here at the moment by the way) before I'd wish to become a U.S. citizen.

Let me tell YOU something, I'm an Immigrant here in Canada (from Germany) and traveled all over the world - Canada and the U.S. are NOT the same. Yes, Texas and New York are quite diffferent as well, but so are Montrealers and New Yorkers.

sassikatz04: I always check out people's info and wouldn't take anybody serious who doesn't know the difference between loose and lose. You also can't be a citizen of American business and I never said that no Canadian wants to be a U.S. citizen . Learn to figure before you tell other people to do so !

Because then the majority of Americans, who believe in selective social justice, (that only Westerners really deserve it) would wake up and finally realize their government has become evil, and there would be a coup. Ha. Then we'd invite all the rebels over for a house party (with Canadian beer of course).

Let me start by saying I am not Canadian nor American. But just reading your p.s remark at the end of your question tells me that you are the stereotypical Canadian, in other words most Canadians have a phobia of becoming American and of everything American. On the other side, most Americans don´t even care about Canada. I visited Canada for 48 hours last summer and I got similar remarks about a possible war in that period of time.

I know most Canadians feel soooo different from Americans, just read any newspaper in Canada and you will find how in so many ways you are different from them. You have even criticized Miss Canada last year for being " too American". Well let me tell you something from across the world, to everybody else, Canadians and Americans are just the same kind of people. I believe you could find more differences between a Texan and a New Yorker.

There has been talk of just eraticating the border between the two countries for years. Since the border is so loose anyway. The U.S. offered Canada to become part of the U.S. and form some sort of Union like what countries did in Europe to form the E.U.

The Canadian people didn't want it so it didn't happen.

Plus, the U.S. doesn't invade people inless they have a reason. Can you imagine if George Dubya decided to invade another country?

It would be a waste of time

Plus 1/2 of Canada drives to Florida every winter and spends all their money. How do you beat that? It's better than collecting taxes from unemployed Americans living in Doublewides.

Go big Red Go

Because there aren't oil reserves in Canada like there are in the Middle East. Honestly, Canada is under the rule of the British, and we are allies. Why would we invade a country friendly to us?

Actually most Canadians would love to give the province of Quebec to the U.S.It's where 90% of the terrorists gain entry into Canada and seem to remain.Americans like to whine about a lot of things so the French would fit right in as they have been whining for 300 years about the Plains of Abraham and getting their asses kicked by the British.Talk about sore losers.

Because Canada is an ally of the United States. They have a long history of co-operation and are on good terms most of the time.

Its because it would look bad in the eyes of all the other political factions in the world, then our allies and other trade partners will break off ties and it would not be good for the economy

We have no reason to invade Canada, nor do we want to and your question is goofy. Grow up.
