what are advantages of keeping beard by men ?

Well, for me, it's a masculine thing. My dad always had one, I wanted to grow one. For the first 6 years though, i worked in fast food, and had to be clean shaven...so when i got a job that allowed a beard, I just let it grow.
As for a medical advantage, I can say it helps cover up any unsightly scars, improving one's self image, which is good for the mental aspect....it also does attract girls, which is a good lure as well, looking like smokey adams.
small drawbacks, can occur, though, for example, fi you don't wash your face, zits can still occur, since the oils still are released.
Lastly, you want to get it trimmed from time to time, so you don't look like, well....a wookie.

Besides the advantage gained from following a pious tradition of the ones religion there is also the warmer cheeks and neck in the cold months.
Oh yeah... and as a man, you actually look like a man is meant to look. Men are not to be womanly faced or boyish in their appearance. A beard on a man is like a mane on a lion- why would you not want to wear one?

If you were on an island and you are starving to death you could always see what stuck in your beard the last time you ate! ha ha!

Protects from sunburn while one wanders deserts for 40 years.
Provides an excellent way to store food for later consumption.
Also good way to store your lady's love juices for braggin to your buddies about later on about your lunch at the Y....
Excellent for hand to hand combat - provides a handhold for bashing your opponents brains out.

I can't think of any. It might keep you warm or hide a large part of your face if you are not very attractive, but other than that I think it is cosmetic only.

It hides their scares if the got one and it protects the chin from direct damage
