Is their God really as weak and useless as the Bible makes (s)he/it out to be or did the awesome power and beauty get lost in translation?

No matter what people say beliefs will remain beliefs unless we sincerely try to find out for ourselves if things truly exist. And saying that it is impossible to find out the truth about a true God is about as stupid as saying no one can know the truth about Chemical Reactions. Both take discovery and hard work to get the truth and both have the tools necessary for discovery. And for all you nonbelievers out there consider this:

Suppose that a person decided he wanted to prove once and for all there is no God. Since the scriptures claim that God dwells in the heavens, the first task the person would have is to examine every cubic inch of the heavens (the universe), to see if there was no God. But even that impossible task creates a new set of problems. First of all, it would have to be an examination in the fullest sense of the word. Human beings see only visible light, which is a tiny portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. If by see we mean only what the eye can register, God would be totally missed if he exists at another frequency of the light spectrum. In other words, suppose God were at the ultraviolet or infrared frequencies. This person looking for God would miss him completely.
But examining every inch of the universe across the fulness of the electromagnetic spectrum still wouldn't provide irrefutable proof. Suppose the person marked out the universe in a grid and began to search it systematically, square by square, from A to Z, and doesn't find God in any of the squares. Could that person then say there was no God? No! What if God was in square L when the searcher started in square A, but by the time that person reached square L, God had moved back to square B or C?
To prove there is no God, a person would have to perceive (in the fullest sense of the word) every cubic inch of the entire universe simultaneously! In other words, one would have to be a god in order to prove there is no God.

He can't be that weak and useless because the people who believe in him have invented more, created more, done more, controlled more, accomplished and achieved more than the people of any other religion on this earth at any time in history. Not too shabby for a weak and useless god. I'd say, he's got the best track record out there.
This weak and useless god, as you put it, created everything there is including you! Therefore, your question is quite foolish.

easy answer. human beings continuously produce different critiques and missunderstand lots. some christians idea like this, and some like that. and some human beings only missunderstood somethings and began to believe in what that they had heard, despite the indisputable fact that the precedence is they heard incorrect! on account that there have been one of those vast quantity of diverse critiques, they split up. the three greatest Christian communities are Catholic, Orthodox and Protestantic Christians. Now i'm no longer Christian, yet I recognize your religions. i in my opinion imagine that the protestantic faith feels like the christian crew that makes the most sense. Why do you need to take heed to a pope? the position contained in the bible does it say that Christians ought to pay interest to a pope and do as he orders? surely, it has happend that the pope till now tricked the human beings only to make money by ability of promoting something (do not bear in mind what it changed into) that makes so that you're going to attend, as an instance, 500 years a lot less contained in the purgatory.. And only because something is a convention would not recommend that it really is precise. So yeah, those are my critiques.

"weak and useless god", is that how you put it?

Your ignorance on who God is makes me pity you. God is not "weak" or "useless". God has done tremendous things throughout history and is still doing tremendous things; things that unfortunately go unseen.

It says in the bible that we should not question God, which is what you are doing. God has a plan for each and every one of us. I suggest you pray, take God has your savior and ask God for forgiveness before it's too late.

Why do you bother with this type of cr@p? Does it get your rocks off? No one really cares about your opinion, least of all those that visit this particular Topic. All you are doing is getting the religious people to pray for your lost soul.

Oh, wait, that is why you are doing it. You are a closet christian, and you are hoping the extra prayers will save your sorry @$$.

I understand now!

Let's see, um, rasing a man from the dead does not seem like a very weak God to me.
Choosing not to believe in God seems more weak to me.
