Weight is definitely genetic...however, your eating habits are not. In all fairness to her...what she's eating may be the culprit. You say she eats less than you. Ok for example, the pair of you go shopping and decided to go and eat at the food-court. You eat 2 slices of pizza, she eats one. Pizza is not diet food. Any and all fast food, no matter if you eat less of it will cause you to gain weight. PERIOD.

Tell your friend to eat chicken, fish, salads...etc. Also tell her to incorporate exercise. Walking 30-40 minutes each day will change her metabolism.

Unfortunately your friend inherited a fat gene - by no fault of hers, but she can make changes in her life. I apologize if that sounds harsh...but when people look at your friend...they think harsh things. People are mean...and while some can care less what people think...tell her to do it for her health.

Overweight people are susceptible to shorter life spans. Maybe the pair of you can walk together or maybe just exercise together.

It sounds like you're a really good friend, who is concerned about her bud. Help her make changes in her life.

My best,

everyones metabolism is different. She may even have a thyroid condition that needs medication to help her out. How do you know she eats less than you? Is it only what you see her eat or what she tells you? Many people also tend to hide from others what they really eat when no one is around. If her family is all overweight, maybe foods in the household are loaded with sugar and fats even if she eats less than you do. That alone can add weight. You may be eating healthier and the same amount as she but she may be eating unhealthy. Hope this helps.

Well I don't know about weight being genetic but I know that habits are formed and taken from generation to generation coupled with today’s fast pace and less activity, with all this I can see how many have metabolisms that are turned off. As a Health Advisor I can introduce you to an all natural program that will help you change habit, turn on your metabolism, educate you, and start you on your way to a healthier state. She could reduce her weight by dieting and exercising. But genetic factor also play a vital role in body structure so she would not be like you.
