Gatorade is good for one thing, and one thing only: the replenishment of salts. You only need to drink Gatorade if you're drinking copious amounts of water. There is a condition called 'hyponatremia' that CAN be deadly, but only in EXTREME cases of salt loss. It occurs when an individual drinks so much water that the sodium needed for normal cellular function is all flushed out of the body through sweating or urinating, but a 200 lb man would have to drink roughly 4 gallons of water and eat nothing for a day to even begin to feel the symptoms, and even then it wouldn't be anywhere near life-threatening. If you'r eating any food at all, you're probably getting plenty of salt, since nearly every food sold in America contains sodium. One thing I can say for sure about Gatorade is that the first bottle I drink after nothing but water for a while always seems to taste great and quench my thirst, but a second one always seems like nothing more than sugar water, and it seems like my body's always telling me that one is enough.

It does have a lot of calories and sugar. Sports drinks are good for people who are doing sports, but the majority of people will just drink a sports drink like gatorade as a beverage, like doing that darn sport of sitting on the computer, or watching tv, then it's not good.

It is good to drink if you are outside and being very active. It will keep you from being dehydrated better than an equal amount of water. If you are looking for a soda-alternative, try juice, there is too much sugar in the sports drinks to use them as a soda-substitute.

The commercial states that it quenches your thirst when you're actively moving. However, I don't think it's good for you. It contains too much sugar. It can actually give you diabetes if you drink too much of it. It has more sugar than a soda.

It doesn't have nearly as much sugar as a soda, and absolutely no caffeine. SO no, it's not all that bad for you.
