You make the claim that there is a god and that you follow him. That is an extraordinary claim. So, making such, you must provide extraordinary proof.
Have any of you done so? No. Have any of you provided as much as a single shred of credible evidence, since you lack any such proof? No.

Oh and before any of you say something as stupid as "but...but.. you can't prove god DOESN'T exist..." Let me educate you before you begin.
The burden of proof rests upon the person that proposes the idea. Not on the listener. For example; say I were to tell you that I have in my backyard, a magic Marmot that eats only diamonds and plops out solid gold roses. Would you believe me? That's an extraordinary claim and it demands extraordinary proof. Even a solid gold rose is NOT proof that it came from the Magic Marmot is it? I could have had it made someplace.
So the burden of proof is on ME to show you the Magic Marmot and to show him eating diamonds and plopping out the roses.
So? Where is your proof?

Jaimie2484,
so, what you're saying is that you have no proof. I accept that and agree.

yes, you are correct, it can be applied to any religion. and it applies equally since they are equally based on myth and fables.

impossibledream,
yes, for your information and this may come as a shock to you, but evolution IS a fact. It is the basis of ALL biology. To deny this is an outright lie.
Ask any biologist if he believes in Evolution. He'll says the same as I do "I don't have to believe in a fact. Only religion and mythology requries belief".
But it's satisfying to know that you too, don't have a shred of proof to support the existence of your sky pixie.
Just as I knew you wouldn't.

The ignorance of you religious nuts is absolutely astounding. It is astounding, people! And it's also quite depressing.

What do you believe, may I ask?

It takes a very arrogant person to say the things you are and believe them. I suppose all of reality just became. Or I suppose after a 'big bang' the universe formed and we evolved from some goo.

Well let's go way back, my question is: Why is there a reality? Why is there anything in this huge space, why not just some vast void?

You see alot of intelligent people today are so focused on themselves and their advances that they cannot conceive that their could be a higher being. We must be the greatest.

That is your misfortune. Do not let your close mindedness become the reason for your failure.

I am a Christian and I have all the proof I need, in the Bible and in my heart.

There are seven basic proofs God exists. Properly, they belong in a separate book all by themselves, but I will cover them briefly here.
(1) That there is a great CREATION is obvious. The very fact of the existence of THINGS; the universe, the solar system, the earth and all myriad forms of life upon it, demands a CREATOR!
(2) The existence of great, immutable, powerful LAWS (and I speak of the "laws" governing the physical universe; the laws of science and chemistry; laws governing the action of water in its three states; the cleavage and fracturing properties of minerals; gravity, inertia, isostasy, etc., etc.). The existence of these great laws demands a lawgiver!
(3) The intricacy of complex design; whether the feathers on the wing of a bird; the eye of a fly; the breathing apparatus of a dolphin; billions of intricately-designed snowflakes; your own muscular, skeletal, digestive and circulatory systems-etc., etc., requires a great DESIGNER!
(4) LIFE exists. Life in myriad forms. You and I both know that life only comes from preexisting life! This is called the "law of biogenesis." Life demands a great LIFE GIVER!
(5) Life only comes from preexisting life of the same kind! Thus, there is procreation, and the sustaining of life on our planet; the constant recycling of falling trees, rotting vegetation; the bacteria which break it down to become food for the insects which are food for dozens of other creatures, which are in turn food for larger creatures, which are in turn food for man; the cyclical character of our symbiotic environment which, like a gigantic machine was once "wound up," and is gradually running down, requires a sustaining force. Inherent within this proof are the laws governing the "conservation" of energy" and the laws of thermodynamics. It is obvious our universe has a great sustaining force-a GREAT SUSTAINER!
(6) Fulfilled prophecies, of which there are dozens, with dozens more yet to be fulfilled, constitute a great proof of Almighty God. Even simple high school or beginning college-level Bible handbooks such as Halley's, or the Angus Bible Handbook contain fascinating proofs from the spade of archeologists corroborating the prophecies of men who foretold the collapse of great empires and the emergence of others centuries and centuries beyond their own lifetime. Now, we are able to look back at such men as Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and others, and see what they foretold actually HAPPENED exactly as they foretold it!
Many of the biblical prophecies are in process of being fulfilled. The serious student of biblical archeology knows that it is axiomatic that, wherever archeology reveals information about ancient civilizations, it always corroborates the biblical record, never refutes it!
(7) The final proof-one which dyed-in-the-wool disbelievers will doubtlessly scoff at-is answered prayer! Of course. God does not answer the prayers of skeptics and disbelievers. However, those individuals who have experienced the answer to PRAYER; those who have been healed of their sicknesses and diseases, who have actually seen miracles performed, are no longer doubting, but believing. Answered prayer is definitely a proof that there is a God who can hear. and answer

EVOLUTION

The introduction to Genesis and to the whole Bible ascribes everything to the living God, creating, making, acting, moving, and speaking. There is no room for evolution without a flat denial of Divine revelation. One must be true the other false. All of God’s works are good, great, wondrous, and perfect.

Man starts from nothing. He begins in helplessness, ignorance, and inexperience. All his works, therefore, proceed on the principle of evolution. This principle is only seen in human affairs: from the hut to the palace; from the canoe to the ocean liner; from the spade to the plowshare to machines. But the birds build their nests today as at the beginning. There is growth and development within man, but no passing, change, or evolution out from one into another.

For this theory or fallacy of evolution to be true there would be evident stages of evolution today. You would be able to find species in many stages of evolution in nature right now. For this theory or fallacy of evolution to be true there would be no God. And that’s exactly what evolutionists believe and are trying prove. The evolutionist bases his or her conclusions on human assumptions and reasoning, instead of on the documentary evidence of the manuscripts.

and though there is a lot of speculation, there is absolutely no proof that any one species evolved from another- it is a ridiculous claim, has no foundation and does not hold water.
I cannot make you believe something that you don't want to believe, but I urge you to use discernment, reason and logic when thinking aobut evolution- all the things evolutionists accuse us of not using , but really- do the principles of evolution make sense? If this has taken place over the course of millions of years, little by little, then we are being decieved when we are told we are looking for "the missing link" we are looking for millions of missing links- besides that- there are so many common sense, scientific questions that evolution just cannot answer- no matter how you twist it.
If you are really interested in education and not just disproving something that does not fit your mold- read this article, it is fun reading but very informative and common sense-

here are other bits of interesting fact for you to ponder :

Charles Dawson, a British lawyer and amateur geologist announced in 1912 his discovery of pieces of a human skull and an apelike jaw in a gravel pit near the town of Piltdown, England . . . Dawson's announcement stopped the scorn cold. Experts instantly declared Piltdown Man (estimated to be 300,000 to one million years old), the evolutionary find of the century. Darwin's missing link had been identified. Or so it seemed for the next 40 or so years. Then, in the early fifties . . . scientists began to suspect misattribution. In 1953, that suspicion gave way to a full-blown scandal: Piltdown Man was a hoax . . . tests proved that its skull belonged to a 600-year-old woman, and its jaw to a 500-year-old orangutan from the East Indies." Our Times--the Illustrated History of the 20th Century (Turner Publishing, 1995, page 94).

Science Fiction
The Piltdown Man fraud wasn't an isolated incident. The famed "Nebraska Man" was built from one tooth, which was later found to be the tooth of an extinct pig. "Java Man" was found in the early 20th Century, and was nothing more than a piece of skull, a fragment of a thigh bone and three molar teeth. The rest came from the deeply fertile imaginations of plaster of Paris workers. "Heidelberg Man" came from a jawbone, a large chin section and a few teeth. Most scientists reject the jawbone because it's similar to that of modem man. Still, many evolutionists believe that he's 250,000 years old. No doubt they pinpointed his birthday with good old carbon dating. Now there's reliable proof. Not according to Time magazine (June 11, 1990). They published an article in the science section that was subtitled, "Geologists show that carbon dating can be way off." Don't look to "Neanderthal Man" for any evidence of evolution. Recent genetic DNA research indicates the chromosomes do not match those of humans. They do match those of bipedal primates (apes).

What does Science Say?
Here are some wise words from a few respected men of science: "Evolution is a fairy tale for grown-ups. This theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless." (Professor Louis Bounoure, Director of Research, National Center of Scientific Research). "Evolution is unproved and unprovable." (Sir Arthur Keith--he wrote the foreword to the 100th edition of, Origin of the Species). "Scientists who go about teaching that evolution is a fact of life are great con-men, and the story they are telling may be the greatest hoax ever." (Dr. T. N. Tahmisian, Atomic Energy Commission, USA).

"To suppose that the eye . . . could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree." Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species

A great resource for some education that is logical and common sense is called "The Science or Evolution: expand your mind" You can get this DVD from WayoftheMaster.com

The fact is there is nothing here that was not created, planned with a purpose in mind. Is there anything on this earth- not natural that just came together on its own. You can put pieces of 'stuff' in a box and put whatever conditions you choose and without a purpose and planning for that purpose, you won't get anything useful. I have yet to see anyone show matter being created out of nothing, or one species evolving into another or any proof of that happening. this world works in a clockwork type order , there is precision and purpose to everything you see - you cannot have purpose without a plan and you cannot have a plan without a planner- there is nothing that can disprove intelligent design. Period!

this question can be put forward to ANY religion, ANY way life, ANY way of thinking. Why pick on christians? What is your belief set and what is your proof?

Christians, in particular, cannot prove their case without a reasonable doubt, but ideally they would realize they BELIEVE God exists. This is not KNOWING, it is believing. And once we understand this, proof is not needed.

although there are logical processes that could LOGICALLY "prove" God exists.

good question. let me start off by apologizing for christians who will answer this question by talking down to you and making fun of you or getting mad at you. anytime a christian acts like that toward you tell them to continue to read their bible because they obviously haven't found the part on anger management or other sayings of jesus like, "if the world hated me, the world will also hate you." i understand that God is not going to roll back the sky and say "here i am" to you so that you know he exists. who would be foolish enough to not believe if he did something like that. God requires faith from his people and without faith it is impossible to please God as the writer of Hebrews states. I admit, belief in the existence of God does require a certain amount of faith. but i also hold that belief in evolution or any alternative form to creation requires much much more faith. it is a lot easier to belief that someone (God) created something (earth) than it is to beleive that nothing created something. when it is put that way you can see what requires more faith. contact me if you want me to continue or if you have any other religious questions.

proof..... the universe. no one knows if there is a beginning or an end to the universe. if you are one who believes that every single star, planet, moon, comet, etc, etc, started off with the "big bang" Where did all of that matter come from that exploded? It would be immense!!! And by just how gravity woks. the heaviest pieces would be closer to the center (jupiter, saturn) than the smaller pieces (mercury, venus, earth)

You cannot empirically prove the existence of God - that's why it's called "Faith". There is only logical argument like the Medieval Theologian,Thomas Aquinas' 5 proofs for the Existence of God.

Wikipedia summarizes it:
"It [the Summa Theologica of Aquinas] consists of three parts. Part I treats of God, who is the "first cause, himself uncaused" (primum movens immobile) and as such existent only in act (actu), that is pure actuality without potentiality and, therefore, without corporeality. His essence is actus purus et perfectos. This follows from the fivefold proof for the existence of God; namely, there must be a first mover, unmoved, a first cause in the chain of causes, an absolutely necessary being, an absolutely perfect being, and a rational designer. In this connection the thoughts of the unity, infinity, unchangeableness, and goodness of the highest being are deduced."

This is an excerpt of the first proof:

"The first and more manifest way is the argument from motion. It is certain, and evident to our senses, that in the world some things are in motion. Now whatever is in motion is put in motion by another, ...It is therefore impossible that in the same respect and in the same way a thing should be both mover and moved, i.e. that it should move itself. Therefore, whatever is in motion must be put in motion by another. ... But this cannot go on to infinity, because then there would be no first mover, and, consequently, no other mover; seeing that subsequent movers move only inasmuch as they are put in motion by the first mover; as the staff moves only because it is put in motion by the hand. Therefore it is necessary to arrive at a first mover, put in motion by no other; and this everyone understands to be God."

And this is most of the 5th proof:

"The fifth way is taken from the governance of the world. We see that things which lack intelligence, such as natural bodies, act for an end, and this is evident from their acting always, or nearly always, in the same way, so as to obtain the best result. Hence it is plain that not fortuitously, but designedly, do they achieve their end. Now whatever lacks intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence; ...Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God."
