is anyone else taking this type of pain med? I have bad reactions to codine products (nausea, dizziness). Does this make you dizzy, drowsy? I guess what I am wondering is if I can take it at work and not be sleepy or loopy all day?

Ultram is a narcotic analgesic used to treat chronic pain and surgical pain.It does have s/e of dizziness and drowsiness. The best thing to try is to take it while you are not working to see if you are having these s/e.If not go ahead and work.

I have given many patients Ultram and have seen that most patients do not have severe s/e.

Tramadol is a narcotic analgesic that targets the pain receptors in the brain. It is not a scheduled narcotic like Oxycontin, vicodine or morphine. There are some studies showing that it can be addictive if abused. The only trouble I had with Tramadol is that after several days of taking it I couldn't sleep. It didn't make me sleepy or dizzy.

It is addictive only if abused - but if you are in pain then take it just enough to get rid of it and you will be ok

As for drowisness everyone is different - big strong guys will complain of drowsiness and little old ladies will say they barely noticed it!

Take the drug as prescribed on an evening to test. At worst it will be out of your system by next morning

DO NOT take it at work. It will make you extremely drowsy. I took tramadol last summer and as soon as it began to work I would pass out.

Ultram is a synthetic narcotic. You can become (and lots of people do) addicted--it's one of the worst abused drugs out there. Please be careful on it. Yes, it can make you drowsy, dizzy, etc.
