The best place to start is to find a magic shop. They will be more than happy to show you any number of magic tricks and illusions. If you want to learn how to perform one, you will need to purchase it. The folks at the magic shop will then show you the secret of the trick and how to do it.

From that point on you need to practice, practice, practice until you master the one trick. Then get another and master it. Then get another and master it.

I would recommend that you start with the Cups and Balls trick. It is simple to learn and easy to master. Next I would get what is called a Chop Cup and master it. I would go from that to the Linking Rings trick. These are good foundational tricks and if you ever want to do grand illusion on the scale of someone like Chris Angel, this is were you need to begin.

Beyond these three tricks you can start looking at any number of additional tricks. Learn a few card tricks and some coin tricks -- these will help you learn a lot of sleight of hand moves.

I would also recommend joining an organization such as the International Brotherhood of Magicians or the Society of American Magicians. Fellow members will be happy to help you master the tricks you are learning.

Once you begin to understand how all these tricks and illusions work you can start coming up with ideas of your own. But I will tell you this, some of the apparatuses the illusionists like Chris Angel use cost in the thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars to design and build.

Good luck.
