1991 was diagnosed as allergic to MERCAPTO MIX. Soo.. all rubber products, latex, waxes, various oils and so on. It makes wearing shoes a total nightmare because of the rubber-based glue they use. I get severe contact dermatitus.
Am also allergic to all nuts and apples.
HAS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE GOT THE MERCAPTO MIX/RUBBER ALLERGY?? How do you get by with shoes, and what substitute is there for cortizone - as I have been using it on and off now for 15 years!!!

Natural tanned leather shoes (using only tannin tanning chemicals). Shoes should not have any trace sulfur iresidue n it. Mercapt or mercaptan are sulfur containing organic chemicals. You acn have shoes custom made using glues that have bno rubber or sulfur cements in them. Many glues do not have sulfur compounds in them. (e.g. epoxy resin etc.)Use socks that are 100% cotton or untreated wool, tooYou may also be allergic to some heavy metals. (much leather is tanned with chromium tanning agents, nickle allergy, for example causes many people to have an llergic reaction.
Your problem is not that uncommon. Therefor there should be suport groups dedicated to it. Try googlle, www.mama.com, and www.dogpile.com searches for them.
Good luck.

I have a latex allergy...the best type of footwear I've found so far are "Crocs"...they are made of a type of resin. You may want to look into them.
