I can't believe that your local shelters don't have any kittens, cats will do just nicely too.

I'm not sure where you live, but we've adopted all of our three cats from a non-profit organization in Pet Smart stores in Canada. They cost $120 each but get $60 back when you have them fixed. This particular place has kittens about 60% of the time, you just have to check often. I would adopt from an agency like this because they are non-profit and you know you are helping an animal have a better life rather than purchasing one from a pet store who often use kitty mills. Also, the best advice that I can give you is to get two kittens, people usually shy away from this, but its the best thing to do. They will keep each other company when you are away, they will play together and sleep together (which is utterly adorable) and its not much more work, you're cleaning and feeding the one cat anyways, it might as well be two. Also, everynight we put our cats into the main floor washroom which has their litter, food etc. this way we know they aren't getting into trouble and they have a place of their own, its really easy to train cats. Also, make sure you have a good scratch post, this is essential for their health and your furniture! I have three cats and they are so well behaved, if you have any questions, email me! cb03pxx@yahoo.com

if you have never had a cat try getting an older one, not like 10 years but out of the kitten stage, kittens are cute, but they can be such a handfull. also think about getting 2, cats need a companion, especially if you are not around. and really 2 is really no more work than having 1.

go to a dog pound around you. thats where i got my cat. he was a kitten when i got him. they are pretty small because they are rescued cats and kittens. now my cat is 4 years old and he is happy. but then again your kitten could get lonely during the day so i suggest getting 2 kittens. im still convincing my parents to let me get another kitten for my cat so he wont be lonely when i go to school.

if you really want a kitty you should try your local news paper, in the classified section there is always someone giving away a kitten. if not try your local animal shelter.

the trailer park where i live is over run in cats. and under the trailer where i live is a set of kittens. and they do need homes because there is no particular person that owns them. so, if you need a cat/kitten, there are numerous out here in London, ohio. west of columbus!!

Check here for shelters and rescue groups in your local area:
http://www.petfinder.com/
Also, please considertaking two! Cats are highly social creatures and they're happier in the company of their own kind, especially littermates. You'll have twice the love and twice the fun!
