No. Of course, they would ask, "Is there a split second of clarity for Atheists where they realize .. 'holy crap, maybe I should have believed!"
No one will really know, will they?

Well, if they died because a nuclear warhead just detonated overhead, they wouldn't even get that split second. Assuming they did get a moment of clarity of thought before dying, there's really nothing to regret. There's nothing wrong with living a decent life by a certain code of ethics, even if that code of ethics is the product of human philosophy as opposed to it being handed down from a "higher being." I wish it were that simple, though. That "second of clarity" would also have to reveal the consequences of a philosophy that, for example, forbids birth control and is responsible for millions of unwanted children being born into misery, poverty, and starvation.
There are so many comments here, some really crack me up. As for the comment "At least us Christians don't have to be afraid of death" -- say that when your merciful God gives you some painful terminal disease, like cancer. Then you'd better pray there's a DOCTOR to ease your pain, because God won't.

that question makes no sense whatsoever....first off anyone who dies christian, jew, wiccan, atheist, and buddhist will all invariabily have to come to the same conclusion about an afterlife. I dont believe that in a split second you could realize that. Most accounts of near death experiences or people who were clinically dead all have reported pretty much the same thing about dying! Most see that white light and see people that were there grandparents, friends, children. Some people have even said they saw hell and came back with vivid details about it. So in your limited mind frame your probably thinking there cannot be an afterlife theres no proof we all live and die and eventually our bones turn to dust and all memory of our lives has faded. Can you see your heart beating? Well how do you know its beating? Can you see your stomach digesting its food? Well how do you know its digesting food then? Is there a God? Have you seen God then? Heaven and hell could be more real than if me and you were talking face to face right now.

You don't really believe that do you?
This maybe a bad example, but consider those who have had an out-of-body experience in a near-death situation. What they have seen is quite consistant if you do the research... Every single person, whether believer or none, always claim to see a bright light. But more than that; this light is more than illumination. It draws them nearer, and they feel eternal love.
I believe that when a Christian dies, they are welcomed home immediately. Keep in mind that time on Earth is different from time in Heaven. On Earth, time moves in one direction at a slow pace. In Heaven, however, time is not important.
When we die, our spirit leaves our body to go to our eternal predestination. Whether Heaven or Hell... there is no split second or a delay in between.
I hope this helps you,
Robert

I dont think that happens unless they were the kind who went to church for other things and not to believe int he Bible. Some Christians aren't good followers and are fake they are the one who will say this in the split second before they die. If u are a non believer i dont think u should be mocking God. But everyone has a right to their own opinion.

No, however I do think there is a second or split second of clarity just before death where non-believers realize "I better repent and ask Jesus to be my personal Lord and Savior, why didn't I believe".

Not yet. A kind of memory is stuck in the spirit (consicience) and what you are made to believe may be there in front of you such as light, angels, and whoever is the deity you grew up to believe in. Not only Christians but also other religious beliefs. Since I do not know what do you believe in, perhaps when you die (if you do not believe in anything) you will not come to realize anything because you do not have a conscience.

No. All religions are rivers to the ocean, some just take a long time to get there. I do think after death, that the portion of the religion that is full of hypocracy and prejudice, will discover that was the wrong approach for development of their soul.

Don't even go there. No they don't believe that you jerk... Believe what you want to believe but stop annoying us. It seems like your jealous since all you atheists talk about is God and Jesus and stuf. And people don't follow the fictional book of Atheists all their lives, they follow the Bible. We will live in heaven for all eternity, and you will wish you could have that paradise.

By definition, FICTIONAL is a story invented or created by your imagination ( it never happened) Fictional is Superman.
However the stories you read about in the Bible are based on real characters and real events...Hopefully you will realize that before you die. I will pray for you
