does anyone else think the term rapture sounds more like a punishment or some type of torture?

No. It comes from the Greek word "rapare" which means "to snatch away or remove quickly", which is an apt way to interpret the moment when the Church will suddenly disappear "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye."

i don't believe in the rapture but I believe of a time of destruction called Armadageddon where wicked people, human governments and False religion ("Babylon the Great)will be done away with so God's Kingdom will rule over mankind to enjoy lasting benefits (see Dan 2:44,Ps 37:9-11, Rev 21: 3-5; Rev 21:8, Is 33:24; Rev 18:1-8)

The Rapture isn't bad at all:

Rapture: The transporting of a person from one place to another

See the Rapture is one thing that all believers in Christ should be looking forward to. Because the Rapture is the day the Bridegroom will come for his Bride. Jesus will come for his Church and take all of his followers to Heaven to be with him eternally.

Ha Ha, very funny. Most informed Christians know the word rapture isn't in the Bible, but the concept is.

The Bible says in 1 Cor 15:52 that "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." KJV

The first four seals have been opened, I suspect the fifth will be opened soon, after the sixth there are six trumpets then we're out'a here!

Hey, ya wanna come with us! It's gonna be a blast~!

I don't really know if it sounds like anything. It is what the Bible says it is. The rapture will happen. It is when Jesus Christ himself comes back to earth to claim His own. Believe it or not. It doesn't matter, because it will happen regardless. By the way, it is anything but a punishment or torture. Duh!

I don't think it's a punishment.
Actually I hope I do get saved from this world when the time comes. I think staying here would be the real punishment.

Rapture is Bliss!

When you are deeply in love, and have been separated from your Beloved, when you are reunited it is sheer RAPTURE and BLISS!!!!

it does. it's also bullshit. there is no mention of any rapture in the bible. it was something a nun dreamt up (literally) in the '50s and it caught on. it's bullshit.
