When kids are homeschooled, they have more options, weather permitting.... Bicycling, going to the park, etc. My younger brothers were homeschooled just for one year, and I remember them having alot of fun being outdoors for "gym."

First of all GREAT name (haha that's my name too!) I'm actually a home school grad so I'm sadly no longer homeschooled :'( but I can tell you what I did and what my sister is still doing for gym. We took (and now teach) a weekly Taekwon Do class that trains 1-2 nights a week for about 2 hours each class, and that counts as our gym activity. Now in the state of Florida we have a lot of freedoms as homeschoolers so I'm not sure if that'll count for everyone in the different states. Some states require you to be partially enrolled in a school program for gym in order for it to count.
I also have friends who have been allowed to play on local highschool football, soccer, and baseball teams. Also there are some church organizations that have sports outreaches that count as well.
I hope this helps answer your question

I just started homeschooling this past year with my three kids. As has been said already, it is easy to fit GYM into the program, something that hasn't been mentioned is that is many schools gym is one 30 minute class every 5th or 6st school day, and 15 minutes of free play on a playground, at home we have make an EFFORT to find time for at least 30 minutes of ACTIVE time a day, swimming at the Y, biking, heck, even 30 minutes of Playstation's E-Toy will work, (If you've ever played you know why that works, talk about work up a sweat!) This year we signed up for the president's physical fitness program as a way of encouragment to stick with the 30 minutes of time at a min. daily. Gym is one of the easier ones!

If you have a big back yard just make it into a "gym" tether ball, tires, foot ball, baseball, volley ball, bike riding in the park etc... If not then you can have gym class at your local Rec Center or YMCA/YWCA. Even going to the pool or walking is considered gym activity. Basically anything that gets you moving around for a good amount of time.

There are recreation centres for use of actual gyms, tracks, fitness equipment, pools, skating, sports clubs, etc. Basically, you do whatever you want for gym.
About homeschooling maybe being illegal, it is perfectly legal in many, many countries and is certainly legal everywhere in Canada and the US.

It depends on where you live. There are organizations in some communities that offer Physical Education Classes to homeschoolers. Also you can check at your local YMCA.

hiking, yoga, weights, bike riding, tae bo, martial arts, swimming, municipal sports programs.
I haven't really started homeschooling yet, but I couldn't possibly do worse than the substandard physical education that I got in public school.

Well, I guess you can get plenty of exercise anywhere, not just in a school gym. I'm sure a good parent would provide a proper exercise program.
The big question is, what do you do for sexual education?

Well, let's see... one year my older son decided he wanted to take fencing lessons. Now he's decided he wants to learn tennis. My younger son wants to continue his swimming lessons...
Lots of options if you look for them. Some states/school districts/private schools even allow homeschooled kids to be on their sports teams and in band and other extracurricular activities/clubs.

My kids swim in our pool all summer, play soccer at the rec center for fall and spring. This year they may start going to the Y.
