Ive been friends with someone for 12 years, the first 6 we were good friends, then the next 5 not at all, then she recently moved next door to me, and for the past 6 months we talked quite a bit. Could I ask her to be one of my bridesmaids, even though she didnt ask me to be hers and she got married a couple of months ago? Do you think she would be glad to do it? She was excited when I told her I was getting married and she is really crafty so I want her in it.

Go ahead and ask her! It's possible that she may not have asked you to be in her wedding because they started making the plans before you both renewed your friendship.

Since she's crafty, you can also ask if she would help out with flowers, decorations and/or favors. Check out Michaels for project ideas and supplies. It will help with your budget if you can do as much as possible yourself. I used to be an Instructor/Event Coordinator for them and we had alot of classes for wedding related items. Plus at this time of year, they are discounting the spring and summer florals to get ready for the fall and winter florals! http://www.michaels.com

Good luck!

Being a bridesmaid isn't a "I'll be one for you so you have to be one for me" deal. (or vice versa) If you value her friendship and would like her to be a bridesmaid, by all means ask her!

Just ask her, she will probably be flattered and just say yes. After all you have known her for long enough.
