It should be around 7 weeks like everyone said so i would say you send them within a week from the day you posted this question lol because its already August and your wedding is in about 10 weeks...on October 7...right?
Also if you send them now it will help with RSVPs and head counts so you can start on table setting and wedding favors and other stuff like that... (if your going to do that)...and if you are...its better to get a early start so you don't have to worry and rush and do things in a hurry towards your wedding date becaue the week of the wedding is already going to be crazy but remeber its all about you too! :)
GOOD LUCK!
CONGRATS! and have a WONDERFUL WEDDING!!!

6-8 weeks is the minimum to send out the invitations. You can actually send them out earlier if you feel that some guest may need the extra notice. Make sure you do a follow-up from those guests that you haven't heard from approximately 2-3 weeks before the wedding so you can submit the final counts for the reception.
Good luck!

My wedding is on Oct. 7th too! I wonder how many people on average get married on the same day, I bet quite a few
As for when to send. I plan on sending out my invitations on Aug. 14th. That's about 7weeks before, since the rule is 6-8 weeks I decided to go in between

8 weeks is about right - you want to give people plenty of time to reply, and people often set things aside and don't remember for a while. If the exact head count doesn't matter to you (if your not having a meal, for example, or it's a very small wedding and you already pretty much know who will be there), you could hold off until maybe a month before, but 8 weeks is usually the right amount of time. It allows people to make sure they don't make other plans for that day, and it gives you enough time to finish taking care of the details that need a more exact headcount. Congratulations!

I sent out my invitations in batches. First to overseas guests, then to our closest relatives and friends, then to work colleagues and other friends and finally to some of our neighbours. Because we could only host so many people at the reception venue this was a good plan for us. As refusals came in from people who could not travel to the wedding, we could fill their places with others. If you leave it too late, you won't be able to do this.
Sending out invitations a good time in advance also let's people keep the day free and not plan something else on that day.

6-8 weeks. This will give your guests the time they need to get it on their calendars, return the response card (if you have one), get a gift, etc. I can tell you also, although I've got Oct 7 free right now, I've get just about every weekend between now and then booked. I guarantee your guests are in the same boat as I am, so I would go ahead and get those invites out!

Yes, 8 weeks ahead is standard. You give them 3 to 4 weeks to respond, and you have your final head count about a month before the wedding. (after calling the 20% who didn't bother to send a reply, that is).

For starters, if you have people living out of state you will want to send their invitations out about 5 to 6 weeks in advance so that they will have some time to get hotels and time off of work. For local people you can send them about 2 to 3 weeks in advance. They are a lot closer and not as worrisome as the out of state friends or relatives.

Well, you certainly want to send them out in plenty of time for people to send their gifts to your home prior to the wedding. Only tacky people bring gifts to the reception. So 8 weeks sounds about right.
Better to be too early than too late!

woohoo! thats my wedding date too. I am going to send mine out this week or next- So i know how many people are coming. People might have to get time off work, or babysitter, or maybe planning a vacation. The more time the better. Good luckwith your wedding and congrats!
