I have an hp officejet 4215xi all-in-one printer/scanner/fax/copier. I can print, fax and copy, but the scan doesn't work. I reinstalled my software & it says software complete of the monitor. But when I try to scan, the scanner says "Please install or run device software." How do I scan?

Sounds like you may have a corrupted driver file. You can try checking by Right Mouse Button click My Computer and go to Properties and look under Hardware/Scanner and see if you have any ? or ! in your Hardware Config.

You can always stick the CD and reinstall the drivers ... or if it just recently happened, use the RESTORE feature to go back to yesterday. If you have XP, this will work as long as you don't wait too long. You'll lose information between yesterday and today - but your scanner would work again......

Click on this link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=351109&lang=en&os=228 this will take you to the newest drivers for your all in one gizmo. Since CDs got made a long time ago, then the only way for a manufacturer to put updates is on their webpages. Visit it often to see any new drivers :)
