Do many girls do this kind of privacy-invading act on their boyfriends? Is this an indication of her jealousy or insecurity? I have never looked into my girlfriend's text messages.

I agree, she may be both..jealous and insecure. How long has she been doing this? Was it just recent? If it is, then she may be suspecting of something fishy going on. If you know that you are not doing anything wrong, then it's best to tell her that you don't appreciate how she reads your text messages. Tell her in a way that won't offend her but get your point across. Hopefully, you're not hiding anything from her, because the more you do that, the more she'd want to know. Or then again, it could be some trust issues. Good luck!

it s just a mix between being insecure and jealous at the same time.. i guess it is cuz the most of the girls wanna be at the first place in their boyfriend's world, they just wanna check if everything's all right or if there is something to worry about.it is an indication of insecurity above all... i don't think it is a good idea to split up for that(that's way too much),just try to make her reason, talk to her explaining that her behavior makes you feel offended if you have never given her any reason to doubt about your fidelity.

Shot in the dark. If you have never given her any reason to mistrust you. Whether it was being unfaithful with her or past relationships. Then you need to look at if she has been in relationships where the trust has been broken.
If neither applies then she may have an insecurity issue for whatever reason. The only thing you can do is constant reassurance. The rest is up to her.

It is definately a sign of insecurity. She is obviously worried about who you are talking to and what you are up to. Most the time it comes from being cheated on or lied to either by you or a previouse relationship. My b/f is like that and we have been together for 9 yrs., so I am here to say it don't get any better. If you can't handle it, get out now!

It's a problem because it is a sign that she does not trust you. She may ask if she could read them or not, but she will always put it like an inocent question. Don't let her read your messages, because, once you do that, she will always read them...and your relationship will transform into a dictatorship meaning no privacy at all...

Yes, it's both jealousy and insecurity. Try to explain her it is a private thing and she wouldn't like you doing the same thing to her. Plus, tell her she needs to trust you.

She, like you, thinks that text messages are really neato and loves to read them. If there is any jealousy, it is that you have a text message to read and she doesn't.

No - it's disrespectful, rude, goes against everything I believe in. If she doesn't trust you.....split up - period. I don't do that to my husband - nor does he to me (25 years too). EVERYONE DESERVES SOME PRIVACY (and does NOT mean they're doing anything wrong). You are being violated. That's my opinion.
