i have fished quite a few times in florida & i have found out a whole heap of tips that will help you catch a fish...

first of all, don't waste your time on fake bait. it DOESN'T work. worms are okay i guess, i have never used them but haven't heard great things. shrimp work like a charm, but only live ones! (but be careful, if you lie them down on the ground, they snap their bodys to try & get back to water. there is a sharp point in their backs used for protection. hook them right in between their eyes, which you can see through their skin.). cast out nice & far. also try to not move the line & cast in different places. cat fish aren't stupid, if you cast it a few times they'll know it's a trick! (anyway, the live shrimp swimming around will be all you need to hook him!) i honestly don't know about the exact bait to catch a catfish, but i know live bait works great! try this website after you find out what type of catfish it is:

good luck!!

I use blood bait, or chicken livers with enough weight to keep it on the bottom.

Big Cat's are night feeders for most part although I've caught a five pounder during the heat of the day..

I saw one old guy catch a 55 lb flathead on Shad below canal inlet of a local reservoir at about 10 in the morning one time. Man that was a fish!!

Well, the biggest catfish I ever caught, I used a piece of hotdog weener rolled in old copenhagen with mustard. But I've also had luck with filet'd perch, grilled liver, and dog turds. Fish near shade, and an old man once told me that the best catfishin is done when the wind blows from the north.

You may not believe this but I have been using it for over 40 years and it works for me. Make some dough balls using rasberry koolaid. and yes it really does work. It also smells a lot better than stink bait I usually fish on bottom or within a few inches of it.

Good , stinky bait for bullheads, flatheads, live shiners or bluegills for channel cats.

fish on bottom.. shrimp seems to work well here, as well as minnows or cast net bait...... its good when the rivers are running.
