I had brace once when i was little and I ate a lot of:
*Ice Cream...its helps with the mounth hurting lol
*Yogurt
*Mashed Potatoes
*Soup
*Mostly anything soft that can just be swallowed rather than chewed lol
Try eating that for a few days (around 3days) and it will help then go back to normal foods that you would eat of a regular basics.
I know it hurts but it will get better and the results will be great! :)
Good Luck! :)

I started out with a lot of room temperature, soft foods. Stuff like applesauce is easy because you don't have to chew it and you don't have to eat it cold (which can sometimes aggrevate your tooth pain). If you think you can handle cold or hot than maybe try some Tomato Soup or ice cream

Eat what you normally eat, but aoid what your orthodontist said to stay away from. Believe it or not, eating the foods you are used to eating will help. Also take some advil or tylenol. I also found that gentle brushing/massaging of your teeth and gums helps.
Whenever you go back to the orthodontist to have them adjusted take some tylenol, advil or aspirin. It will help a lot.
