is dvd+r more compatable to older dvd players?

Try using DVD+R as per other comments, but, for compatability sake try setting the book-type to DVD-ROM in your burning program or via a 3rd party application. Good guides available at www.videohelp.com

Also, maybe try another DVD-R brand, not all media brands are the same.

If you can't view DVD-R's then you'll need to get DVD+R's hope that helped.

you need to check with your manual but if it doesnt read dvd-r try dvd+r
