Orange Glazed Pork Loin with Yams and green salad
Recipe for pork loin:
5 lbs boneless pork loin roast, rolled
1 teaspoon salt
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon pepper
GLAZE
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup orange juice
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Combine the salt, garlic, thyme, ginger and pepper; rub over the entire roast. Place roast with fat side up on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350* for 2 hours.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Stir in the remaining glaze ingredients until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Brush some of the glaze over roast.
Bake 1 hour longer or until a meat thermometer reads 160*, brushing occasionally with glaze. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing; serve with remaining glaze.
This is very good and any one would be please with the effort and taste.
Good luck.

Italian is a great idea but probably not spaghetti. It is hard to eat when you're trying to make a good impression and can be very messy. Also, no spicy foods (like chicken wings or mexican food) or garlic or onion. Another shape of pasta would be great.. and you can maek some chicken with it if you want♥

Stay away from soups or salads. Soups can splash and there is a chance for slurping which is very off-putting while salads contain large leaves which you have to cram into your mouth. Pasta would be nice or some sort of meaty entree like steak or chicken with veggies.

Something you eat with your hands and that you share. Some suggestions...
- Buy those pre-made pizza crusts. Get sauce, cheese, and toppings and you make pizzas together. This works well if one of you is a vegitarian or has food alergies.
- Boiled crab and/or shrimp. Serve them on a big plate and have fun cracking and pealing them together. Offer to clean her hands and face (with a warm, damp towel) when you are done.

i don't think you're a loser. i would be impressed if a guy made me dinner on the first date.
first, i would fish around for the type of food she likes.
i've a friend with a horror story involving peanut oil, so i would avoid nuts and whatnot due to the amount of people that are allergic to them.
if you can't dig for info, i would shoot for something that everyone seems to like, with more than one course-- if you just met this chick, you might be surprised to find out that she's a vegetarian, or something of the like, so give her options.
i think your best bet would be to come up with something that you know you're really good at making, and just throw the idea at her. it won't be less sweet/romantic if you ask her the type of food she likes... besides, we chicks like when guys show interest in what we're into, even if it's food.
personally, i like italian food. if you can't ask, i would go with pasta. who doesn't like pasta?
here're some links to my favorite food network chefs:
look at the fresh plum tomato sauce, i made it and thought it was delicious--

Pasta of any kind... with a butter, basil and garlic sause.. something light, nothing too crazy to fill up on... cause you always have to leave room for desert.. I would suggest cheesecake or apple pie with ice cream... but you have to make it yourself to really impress the other person

Angel hair pasta sauteed with chicken, spinach or broccoli, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper, sprinkled with grated cheese.
Serve with hot bread with a side of dipping oil or tomato and basil mixture.
Finish off with chocolate cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, or a pudding parfait.

definately not spaghetti...something with minimal mess that can be cut smoothly and in small pieces so you can avoid those awkward moments when you steak comes flying from your fork. I prefer roasted chicken and some nice vegetables. Filling and inviting.
