can someone help me to understand what I'm doing wrong? I have completely cut out sugar, white flour and most bad fats. I eat lots of fiber rich veggies, lean meats, and whole wheat bread and pasta. I drink 64+ ounces of water every day, and walk on the treadmill for 90min almost every day...and I am not losing weight. It is so discouraging and I am trying really hard. Any tips? Thanks!

I think the list of foods I mentioned is pretty healthy. I replaced butter with olive oil, trim the fat off of my meat, and don't even drink diet soda. And I went from being virtually inactive to 90 minutes of exercise basically 6 days a week, how is that not enough? And why should I cut out the minimal amount of whole wheat bread and pasta I eat? Whole grains are good for your heart health? Come on people!!!

Take out the whole wheat bread and pasta. No more than 2 cups of vegies a day. This is what we do in the first two weeks of atkins. You can not go over 20 grams of carbs a day for the first two weeks and then you increase. You can eat eggs, cheese, meats, bacon, etc....A salad with blue cheese dressing is good. You do add more carbs after the first two weeks. If you eat under 20 grams of carbs a day you will go into ketosis. You go to your local drug store and ask for "ketostix". After 48 hours of limiting carbs you pee on the stick and it should turn pink or purple. You measure your state of ketosis by the side of the bottle that the sticks are in. There is a chart. Then you know that your body is now burning fat for energy when it would usually be burning carbs for energy. This does work. Read the Atkins book and good luck.

first off; your brain REQUIRES at least 200 carb. calories a day (20% of the DRV). Carbs and their broken down sugars are your body's choice energy. You will use carbohydrates to turn into pyruvate, a simple sugar, and then adenosine triphosphate (the only fuel your biological fuctions will allow, such as active transport of say electrolytes, brain food, for a layman, because you need electrolytes to send electrical nerve impluse). In short, carbs are your friend.

I don't care if you lose weight, in fact I hope you don't. Because weight is unimportant- it's form and function. Can you vault over a saw horse? Can you squat 200 lbs? ... if you can do this kind of thing odds are you will weigh more, not because of fat, but because muscle is denser than fat, heavy. Water is heavy and yet it speeds digestion and thus makes you leaner.

You asked what you were doing wrong; try a weights program, I don't care if you're male or female, start one, now. Start by learning the basics of a good circuit routine and the rep/set/weight you need to do. make sure you have enough weight that you can lose and still be healthy, so get a fat test. find out your percentage. Then... get to it!

Say it with me: CARBS ARE NOT BAD FOR YOU. You're no much more likely to get fats consuming not anything however carbs than you're consuming not anything however protein. Low-carb diets get rid of your frame's foremost vigor supply; does that sound like a well factor to do? If she's wasting weight, it is not due to the fact that she's chopping carbs; it is due to the fact that by means of chopping out carbs, she's reduce her CALORIES. i have known alot of people that have sworn up and down that the atkins diet works.....but none of them have lost any weight..... for starters the atkins diet was not designed for the average joe to loose a couple pounds it was meant for grossly obeist people that were too large to even start exercising. basically it tricks the body into going into starvation mode so as soon as you eat carbs again you gain all the weight back. did you know Dr. Atkins died a fat man? its hard to loose weight it takes alot of time and exercise and eating right.... none of these fad diets will do anything for you. i hate the atkins diet and anyone that swears by it
