Your best bet would be to ask them the degree of their allergy. Some people can have a reaction to just being near something that has touched the offending allergen.

If it is just eating peanuts that is their allergy then of course no peanut sauces, cookies and the like.

If you have some time before they come over and you are attempting to make a nice meal ask them what other names "peanuts" might show up under on food boxes etc. Don't try any surprises with the meal and respect their right to refuse a dish. It's not meant to offend you it's meant to protect them.

Check out some websites for people with food allergies and the dishes reccommended.

Check the ingredients on the label of whatever you're serving (unless it's something fresh). Most of the time, you're okay. If the someone who's coming to your house is responsible enough, he/she'll know what does and does not contain peanuts. Again, just check the labels! There's also warning that say stuff about how the food may have been exposed to different nuts.

Basically stay away from cookies, party mix, anything with peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil, and for some people even Hummus. If you stick to natural foods and fresh foods where there's no chance that they were contaminated during the packaging process, you should be in good shape.

You have to read the ingredients on all the foods you will be serving. Peanuts or parts of peanuts can be in a lot of different manufactured products. I learned this when I had a grandchild who is allergic to peanuts.

I think as long as you do not cook with peanut oil or use any ingredients with peanuts you will be fine. I am also allergic to peanuts and p-nut oil, and this is how I eat. Be very careful this is a deadly allergy for some they can die from it.

Make sure you read the package and make sure it wasn't produced in a factory that makes peanuts (chocolate bars sometimes are made where peanut stuff is made, etc.). Just read the package before you serve it, and if you are still unsure, call up your friend and ask them if it is okay to serve, or let them know you are unsure when they come over, and they can decide for themselves if they can eat it or not.

Check the labels on a lot of pre-packaged foods...even things you'd not expect will have a warning that will say something to the effect of "this food processed on machinery that processes peanuts" (or something like that...letting you know, contact with peanuts may have occured)...

usually if your allergic to one kinda nut you cant have any nuts because the are shelled and packed with the same machines.... people can be so allergic to peanuts that if you were to open a bag of them on an airplane someone could have bad affects...... notice that they serve those stupid whale shaped crackers on airplanes these days instead of peanuts?

Peanuts and nuts are two different families.

Peanuts are actually a legume (bean). Tree nuts are a different family of plants.

Usually there are no other allergies asociated with it. It would not hurt to double check for other allergies .

Read labels on cake mixes and brownies, if you make all items from scratch, you are right avoid the peanuts and the oil, watch oil blends as well.
