I give all of my puppies and their mother Nemex when they are 3 weeks old..and I repeat it every 2 weeks.. You can all around to pet supply shops to find the Nemex.. or Nemex II...Your vet clinic will usually have it in their 'store' section..
Don't panic..Nearly ALL puppies are born with roundworms..it doesn't matter if mom is an indoor pet, or goes outside..She got them form her mother, and her mother got them from her mother, etc...

There are products to treat both mom and babies safely. In fact Puppies NEED to be dewormed on a regular basis.
Garlic powder is NOT the answer.
First, consult your vet about what to use and when. Differnet types of worms require different dewormers. The pups will also need vaccinations on a regular schedule. If you don't know when to do that find out now.
Remember that some kinds of worms are worse for the health of your pups than others. Some could potentially kills the pups. Don't wait. Get this diagnosed and dealt with right away.

If your puppy has worms so badly that he won't eat or drink, a trip to the vet is *definitely* in order. Generally, all puppies have some level of worms at times, and a regular deworming schedule keeps them under control. However, and again generally, they will not cause a puppy to quit eating or drinking. Anything that keeps a young puppy from eating and drinking is pretty serious, and if the worms are the cause, he's beyond any deworming medication you can get over the counter.

You need a wormer, not garlic. Go to the pet supply store and get Nemex wormer. You worm the puppies AND the mom at the same time. You need to repeat it every 14 days for a total of 3-4 doses.
There is no "home remedy" and garlic will not worm your puppies. You brought them into the world, so now you have to take care of them.
Get at it now!!!!
I also worm all my puppies and mom at three weeks. The puppies get them from the mom. Even if she was wormed before the pregnancy, she can have cycts in the muscle tissue that release in to the milk with the hormones. So you always begin worming puppies and mom at three weeks.
Roundworms and hookworm are contagous to humans.
You should not be seeing tapeworms in the puppies at this stage. the life cycle of the tapeworm usually takes three weeks to get to the point where segments are seen, and I doubt the ate segmants or fleas the first few days they were born.
Tapeworm does not pass to the puppies through the milk. A segment, which contains the eggs, must be ingested for another animal to get tapeworm. Or a carrier flea must be ingested.

You need to give it to Mom but, it won't help the pups. At three weeks they are old enough to be dewormed themselves. If the worms are long and look like spaghetti they are round worms and you can use Strongid. It can be bought just about anywhere like Wal-mart, PetCo, ect. It is yellow and usually smells like bananas. If the worms are short, white, flat and look like rice them it is tape worms that are caused from the dogs eating flea larva and you have to get that medicine from the vet. It is called drontal. I would go ahead and give them the strongid anyway...it will not hurt them. Most puppies have some kind of worms.
And remember......starting at 6 week they need to be vaccinated for distemper, parvo, corna, and dewormed again. They have to be dewormed more than once because the meds only kill during a certain stage of the worms life cycle so you repeat it again in two weeks to get the rest of them. Good luck with your new puppies!!! They are a bundle of joy aren't they?
Oh ....Garlic is actually unhealthy for dogs!!!!!!!!!! Don't give it to them please!!!!!!!

You need to bring a stool (poop) sample to the vet to find out what kind of worms your dog has, then get the appropriate dewormer from them.
Mother and pups all need the dewormer.
Garlic will not help.
Puppies should be dewormed at 3 weeks anyways.

the puppies need to be seen by your vet the will do a fecal on the puppies. this will let the Dr. know what worms they have and what deworner they will need. if you are seeing worms in the stool those are most likely tape worms. the only wormer for those worms is by prescription only.
