Something else, like a spirit or just a being.
I feel that way because a higher power doesn't have to be male or female. The higher power does not have a penis or vagina. I think humans had to assign a sex or a gender because its the only way we could grasp the concept. Of course since most world religions have their roots in nomadic and patriarchal societies, holy books and the image of "God" were assigned that of a man. This helped to preserve order and structure within their societies, and to also make it easier to convert others. If you lived in a tent with 4 wives and 20 kids and someone said "join this faith, our god has a vagina and is wonderful", it wasn't going to fly. That is why I defy the concept of God having a defined gender.

male, for sure. I certainly hope so. I've always picture God as a male figure....it said in the bible that we (man) were created in "his image" and his "likeness" so he must look something like a man of course since the man was the first created in the Garden of Eden. I think men are stronger by far (not in all ways) but it was the way it was meant to be. God is a man. BUT, he is also a being that is in everything so I don't think he can be reduced to being just a "man". He is omnipotent, he is God. Jesus Christ was HIS son. It says that in the bible.

Since I don't believe in a god, I'll answer in a theoretical sense. First, it would depend on your definition of god. It it is an infinite being that created all, that god could not have gender because gender it for procreation and god does not procreate, it simply creates. If is as a power principle, then it could be either or both depending on the myth. The question begs the question of what is a god!

I feel God is a male. May reasons for this I suppose.
I was raised Baptist, when I dream of God it's always a male. I feel when I talk to him he's like a father, a male friend, and perhaps my being a female I want or need God to be more of a male form.

I believe Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. He saw Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father. They were two distinct personages having physical bodies. Joseph restored the true church to the earth bearing the name of the Lord. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Heavenly Father- Elohim- is a male. His son, Jesus Christ, Jehovah, is a male. The Holy Ghost, the third personage of the Godhead, is a spirit. These simple truths have been restored by the prophet Joseph Smith in the latter-days.
