Someone on this site said "Who you should really worry about is your male friend for he is denying who he really is and that is not healthy..."
When talking about a homosexual man who was trying to live without homosexual encounters.
Please tell me why is it wrongor unhealthy to deny one's self and if you have any proof other than just your opinion.

it is not wrong to deny yourself for your own Good. if you enjoy alcahol but know when you have one you will end up getting drunk you will avoid that first one it is better for you and yes the church has often taught denial can lead to purifucation.

You must face up to who you are---be honest with yourself. In the Biblical sense you deny yourself, meaning that you give up your personal rights and your personal agenda in order to serve God, but to do this you have to come to the reality of who you are and that you cannot live without Christ. Most people live in a fantasy world in which they view themselves as something quite different from what they really are. This is unhealthy because if it goes on too long and goes too far it will lead to the mental illness of schizophrenia. The man that you are referring to does not need to go through self-denial; what he needs is a complete change of lifestyle, but he cannot do it by himself. In John 15:5, Jesus says..."without me ye can do nothing." Any person desiring a change in their life must embrace Christ or they will fail.

It depends on his reason for his choice.

Is he doing this to please others and fit in? If this is the only reason then yes it is unhealthy for him. It would mean his sense of self is dependant on the viewpoint of others. He is not keeping his moral compass within himself, but letting others decide who he should be and how he should conduct himself.

Is he doing this because he personally views a homosexual lifestyle undesirable for his own personal reasons? Well, there is nothing wrong with that. There are many reasons why some heterosexual people abstain from sexual relationships as well. As long as it is for your own reasons, it should be respected and not judge as a problem.

Just my opinion.
