Dude..........
The main reason is pride, greed & freedom which the Orthodox Church wanted.
The usual explanation is the so-called "filioque" clause added to the Nicene Creed in 447. The filioque states the the Holy Spirit "procedes from the Father and the Son," while earlier versions of the Creed did not have "and the Son." This was in part to combat the various nontrinitarian (Arian, in this case) heresies of the day, but it was heavily disputed by theologians.
Other issues included the primacy of the Pope and whether or not to label the Patriarch of Constantinople the "Ecumenical Patriarch" (which Westerners took to mean "Universal Patriarch" and thus rejected).
The Orthodox Church did not want the Pope to be the head of the Church, & therefore they seperated by bringing some unusual reasons.
Overall I would say just to pray for them.

The scism between the Roman and Orthadox churches was somewhat of a precursar to the Protestant Reformation.
The main reason for the scism is that the Orthodox churches did not want to be under a Pope (even though they had for a long time). They felt that the Pope had abused his position as the Seat of Peter. This problem has grown and grown, even to where the Orthodox believe we should not have a Pope, and have a different interpretation of Matthew 16 (on this rock i build my church).
There are also little things, different yet small wordings and phrasings. They also criticize the Roman church for not staying traditional.
Overall, there are radical Othrodox who believe that Rome is evil and corrupt, when most of the Orthodox still see Rome as a twin Church and wouldnt mind being joined again, or they are like protestants in the fact that they are misinformed about the church from which they came.
It also stemmed from politcal power, greed, and other factors. Overall--pride caused the scism.

The Third Ecumenical Council prohibited changes to the Creed, though it didn't hold too well.
Other issues included the primacy of the Pope and whether or not to label the Patriarch of Constantinople the "Ecumenical Patriarch" (which Westerners took to mean "Universal Patriarch" and thus rejected).

The church was separated between Constantinople and Rome. Both securing power between them due in part to politics, war, and logistics of the Roman empire.
The empire was divide east and west. Power struggle ensued. When the west came to drive out the Moslems from Constantinople the crusaders ransacked the city for themselves as well. Disputes arose over the primacy of the Western Pope over the Eastern Patriarch.
Orthodox did not believe in the distinction of the ministry of Peter from the other Bishops.
These two great religions are very close theologically I think.

The orthodox church did not agree with, amongst other things, the Roman belief that you cannot get to heaven without the involvement of the priests - in fact, the Roman Church made a heresy of the belief that goodness is up to the individual and the church is there to support your quest for grace.
Also, the importance that the bishops gave themselves was a cause for argument (considering that we are all created equal and they are serving God, what right do they have to imagine that they are so important).
And not forgetting of course, the celibacy issue (probably campaigned for by some Bishop who wasn't a hit with the chicks, or doubted his own sexuality - after all, if you are expected to be celibate, you never have to defend your sexual preferences.
This all happened a long time ago, and niether side will back down in order to heal the schism. Lets face it, if you belong to one of these faiths, would you give up beliefs you have had for a long time in order to placate the 'other side'? And, if us Christians can't sort ourselves out, what hope has mankind got?!

it is rather awkward, yet mandatory to me that I answer this. gay: guy + female: New life. guy + guy: no longer something. female + female: no longer something. We have been created male and lady to create new life. no longer for our human excitement. Abortion: that's a life. in case you do not have self belief that's a life, then a minimum of understand it has means to alter right into a individual. that would have been the guy to treatment maximum cancers, come across an determination length, and endless different wonderful issues. Why is killing somebody with a gun so poor whilst injecting infants with burning poison appropriate? Condom: i think of you may parent that out for your self. Masturbation: it is under no circumstances stated interior the bible, so that's no longer even a controversy interior the church. The morning after pill: See abortion. single mothers: i'm undecided what you elect. Circumcision: This became area of the covenant God made with Abraham: God's human beings have been to circumcise their male infants. i won't manage to bear in mind the reason at the back of this, yet i understand it became exceptionally legitimate. Prostitution: merchandising your self out for intercourse. i do no longer understand too lots on the Catholic Church's view in this, yet i understand that it is not favorable. Discrimination to ladies: interior the Catholic Church, that's no longer "discrimination". The twelve apostles have been male, and the priesthood is the church persevering with that custom. The Catholic Church is prepared on traditions. Pre-marriage intercourse: intercourse became reserved by using God for a husband and spouse. that's a manner for them to "supply themselves" to a minimum of one yet another in a actual way; marriage being the religious way. Polygamy: "i'm the Lord your God and you shall no longer have unusual gods in the previous me." The Lord declared that no different God became to be praised. that's the 1st commandment. To absolutely everyone who says that the church needs to regulate you: your individual excitement isn't the church's considerable concentration. that's the honour of the Lord and making it to heaven interior the long-term that we concentration on, no longer making you happy.

I go to Catholic school and my teacher taught us the following: the Eastern and Western churches were teaching in different languages, the priests had different options in life, and that certain beliefs and prophesies were bypassed while preaching in Church.
