Does anyone else notice that a big problem with Yahoo! Answers is that people ask loaded questions involving religious beliefs. If most replies discount what they are asking for example questions relating to say why humans walk upright and the vast majority of the answers involve evolution and the asker picks one of the two replies that mentions something about god. In another case, I answered a question regarding the legitimacy of the Shroud of Turin. The asker wanted proof that it was authentic since in this case someone at his church told him it was, and several "added details" and a dozen or so replies to his question all debunking the authenticity of it, rather than award points to those who answered the question and spent time exhaustively researching for him. He just pulls the question so no one gets a "best answer" I think it's a big problem with this site as people as loaded questions about opinions on things or facts and really just want agreement not the "best answer".

This is not to pick on people asking religious questions but if you have a question about the beliefs of your particular faith why not write in the question title "Christians Only" or "Jehova's Witnesses only" since you're going to immediately dismiss any answer that doesn't agree with your faith?

I guess some people don't really want to gain knowledge or insight or additional information for critical thinking. They just want justification for what they choose to believe, as you said, and tend to dismiss any opinion or even evidence that contradicts their belief. Sad fact of human nature, that if a person has an irrational belief to which they are emotionally attached, presenting evidence to the contrary will actually cause them to defend their irrational belief more fiercely!

I like your debate but the problem is I went to a site that said Christians only and Atheist answers was streaming from every side of the fence. Would be nice if this would be honored, but no honor system on yahoo answers. Sometimes a lot of ignorance but never any honor. I choose to ignore the spewing answers and continue to give my answer either from experience or research or both. I would never ask a question that was not worthy of a debate on both sides. Most people do not make valid points from either side whether it be Christian or Atheist or whatever. When the Christian answers a Christian question with, Amen, they are satisfied. When an Atheist answers, that is right, to an Atheist question they are very satisfied they are 100% right. Most just say you stupid Jesus freak or you ignorant Atheist devil. How shameful.

Unfortunately you can't make people do what you want and as for this religious and athiest stuff on here people need to just quit asking if they don't want answers
Just because u believe something does not mean every body and their brother is gonna believe it. Everyone is entitled to whatever they want to believe in. As for an agreement and not necessarily the best answer again there you have another "my opinion" ordeal well. I've rambled enough so I'll leave u with this thought No matter what they say I'm Right!!!

I find enjoyment answering questions specially those provoking ones. I consider loaded questions to be challenging and the only loving way I do when the question is too much to bear is do the "LOVE" button......DELETE. In that way you do not offend the ignorance neither you go to the level lower than you think you are. If you answer, answer with care. It is like joining a session we call "brainstorming" where even the most stupid idea could become a bright idea by accident. It may not be waste of time after all.

I've also noticed a strange occurrence on this site. I believe that a lot of people ask questions that they already know the answer to to tell themselves how good they are and convince themselves they're right.

Also I've noticed a lot of people asking immoral questions and coming on here looking for someone to salvage their guilty conscience. What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong regardless of what someone is trying to convince themselves.

To be honest though I don't play for points. I just come on here to help out people, learn a few things and be entertained. Besides the leader board has people with thousands of points, so it's not like I'll ever catch up. So I just take the site with a grain of salt.

Goodness, the loaded questions are the best part of Yahoo! I've gotten more laughs and read some really profound opinions than anywhere I've ever encountered. This is great, some one throws one out there and Bam!, it's out of the park; grand slam style! They should tell there friends about this Q&A site, oh God that would be so fine.

You are not the only person who sees this problem. I hear you!!!
I wish more people could appreciate a person's answers for what they are, especially when a respondent or a questioner was sincere.

The reason why you don't see "For Christians Only" or "for Hindus only" is because some of the nonchristians were offended since they felt it was discriminatory.

Please keep answering and questioning in sincerity and love. We need more people like you posting on this board!!

yahoo answers is supposed to be for people to find answers to questions they are unsure of, so if they are asking loaded questions, it pretty much shows that they're just insecure in their beliefs and are looking for some reinforcement. if only 2 of 50 responses agree with what the person thinks, then they can go ahead and pick one as the 'best' but at least they will know that most people think they're wrong

I guess you are right. I spent this morning defending an answer that I had given. I think it was perfectly innocent, but Yahoo Answers sends me an email that it offends the sentiments of people. It was a real turn down. But I pray God touches some soul and blesses their spiritual life.

Sometimes there are real questions here looking for real answers but not usually. Id say the vast majority want agreement more than an answer.
