One saw sand.
The other saw stars.

I don't know where this story came from but I would think it's a bit like the two men who are in the gutter, one is lying face down, the other one face up and is looking at the stars. It's about whether your glass is half full or half empty, personally mine is half full!

Two men looked out from behind the same bars.
One saw the mud, the other the stars.

That is how it goes.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense-- big deal, sand may be great to someone, just as stars are.............
