i want to get some opinions on that article. just a personal opinion but my god do we stop to think that some of these people just may go home with this new found training and plan better attacks against us? no i'm not saying everyone but i wonder how lax our screening process is. even if it's considered air tight, you can't predict what people will do.

I think the risk of betrayal is greatly outweighed by the possibility for cooperation and strengthening of the Iraqi military.

Training one or two Iraqis at our military academies is nothing compared to the thousands of Iraqi soldiers we train daily in Iraq. Some of them have turned on us, but if we don't build a functioning military for the new government, we'll either have to stay there for ever or let the place collapse when we leave.

This doesn't worry me at all. In fact a glad to see it. US military academies are already open to international students in his gesture would help to prove to the Iraqi government and military and we are on their side and are willing to do anything to help build up their forces. I believe, with the complete rebuilding and stabilization of the Iraqi government and military, that Iraq will prove to be a formidable ally to the United States in the Middle East.

The Iraqi military has plenty of volunteers to fill their ranks, what they need is good officers to lead these men.

It doesn't worry me. The benefits to a new democracy far outweigh any risk to us because of skills gained by those who will be trained there. I think it will only strengthen relations between Iraq and the U.S. in the future.

Great, it's like a certain flight school in Florida (9/11), just now officially sanctioned with more funding and more training.

I think when we actually implement this the screening and follow up procedure will be greater with foreigners then it is with our own citizens, I think the gov't. will have to be at it's greatest security levels when involving these foreigners because I mean how horrible would it look on the gov'ts part if someone who was trained by our own ended up killing thousands of our own??

If our goal is to truly help the Iraqi people then education should be at the top of the list.
