I'm not a psychiatrist or anything but...

The castle represents either some goal you have for success, or some portion of society that you think you are cut off from. You want what's in the castle but no matter how hard you try you can't get it because you feel you are lacking something - thus the gap.

I find it interesting that your friends do not climb the stairs with you. Is there something you want that they don't want and are not helping you get? Do they distract you from your goals?

It's up to you to decided what's in that castle. When you know what's in the castle you'll know what the gap is. Then you get to decided what you're willing to do to overcome the gap, and whether you will need to leave this set of friends behind to do it.

Dreams are funny things and they are very individual specific. I personally do not believe that there are set symbols or that specific things mean the same thing for everyone, I think that it depends on that person and that what is in their dream is representative of something for them.

Dreams I believe are actually the minds way of getting things across to the dreamer (the sub-conscience communicating with the conscience) in a way that puts things in a form that is acceptable to the dreamer, meaning in some way that allows the dreamer to keep sleeping. If we had nightmares all the time we would never get sleep or what sleep you did get would not be very restful.

There are often times scene changes in dreams and very distinct and strange ones, such as starting in a grocery store and then all of a sudden being in a forest.

For you whatever this castle represents, be it someplace that you want to go, someplace that you have already been to or a place that you do not want to go to obviously has some specific meaning to you since you are for whatever reason not being allowed to cross over into it.

You had to climb 100 stairs to get up to the top, so quite a ways up, only to find this huge gap between the stairs and the castle. You said that you woke up hot and sweaty, was that because you were running in your dream, scared or trying to get to the castle quickly.

Were you alone on the stairs and where were your friends why did they stay behind. All these things are something to think about. I would focus on what is going on in your life that is representative of the castle and then try to figure out why it is that you have a block of some sort that is stopping you from either going there or wanting to go there.

There is good book written by a friend of mine called "How the dream creates the mind" The man who wrote it is an MD from Harvard and has been in the field of Psychology/Psychiatry for many many years, you might find the book helpful.

I would guess you have a big decision coming up and you are still not sure how you are going to deal with it. You are afraid you will not make the right one or it is just impossible to deal with it. Just a guess...Have a great day, and don't eat before you go to sleep...By the way, if your Superman, why can't you fly over it...

go to your family doctor and ask for a sedative to put you to good restful sleep. a week into it, the drug can be withdrawn and you will rest well at night. Dreams are morphed by products of unfulfilled desires of past life. Dont bother too much about them unless you are doing a doctorate on it.

Most dreams mean nothing. Most dreams come from something you might have seen or heard days, weeks or even months ago and don't even realize it.

You might have a long journey and there will be a gap between you and what you want in life.
