You had to put spaces in between the letters, to avoid Yahoo automatically changing them to "****".

That's your first clue, Sherlock.

Derivate of Nigeria - the country. It is preceived to be a derogatory term. Words are only images but it's the meaning which is associated with them that matters. If society agrees that any word is offensive then people are conditioned to react in a certain way to it being said. So you can be guaranteed that someone is going to take offense if you use a certain word and you will be vilified for it becuase it will be said that you knew it would upset someone and used it in any case. You were therefore insensitive. Nonsense really but that is how people react.

Even though originally it had a literal meaning, and could be referred to any race. It is now derogatory. Why would you want to use a word thats offensive and could affect someone's feelings in a negative way when you could easily just use another word that better decribes what you are trying to say.

The word is derived from the word *****, in itself its not offensive. But it was the name white slave traders gave to black men when the slave trade was rife. It became looked on as an insult to black people by white men, but is ok for a black person to call another black person this as they are the same. So you cant blame black people for getting a little pissed by the term, it must open a lot of old wounds for them, but of course you knew this all the time didnt you SH*T FOR BRAINS.

The "N" word is synonymous with the opression of a race who had ancestors as slaves by the white race for over 400 years. White trash Hillbilly, Redneck, In-breed Hick have no comparison to such a word.

They are bad because people use them in a hateful way to insult other people.

I'd love to know what your heritage is... maybe you would find that words used against your own culture have a sour taste.

To prefer one culture over another is fine. We all do this. Some may like the asian culture over black over hispanic etc.....And this is okay. It's personal preference. But hate? Why? So you don't like black. Big deal. You're not the first, you won't be the last. But what have they done to you that your own race hasn't done to you.
