Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

With love in Christ.

You know listening to what everyone thinks can be confusing so ask your pastor if you have one, but What I do know is thinking about someone while masturbating is Sin. The bible talks about So as a man lust in is heart after someone he has already committed a sin and I was paraphrasing....So just thinking about having sex with someone is a sin. And you would be good if you don't think about someone while you are masturbating....

another "is masturbating a sin" question. short answer-no. Of the 365 negative commandments in Scripture, not one of them says, "thou shalt not masturbate". Considering all the other sexual offenses mentioned in Scripture (incest, adultery, bestiality, homosexuality), why not include this one too? People certainly knew about it back then. Where did people get hung up on the idea that masturbation is a sin? How is it an offense against God? There are far more serious offenses in the world today such as murder, rape, torture, false imprisonment, oppression because of race, gender, etc. that we should be concerned about.

If it is then it's a sin that ALL christians indulge in.
There are only two kinds of people on the planet, those that masturbate, and those that lie about not masturbating.

IF you believe in sin... but to answer the question, I once heard an "expert" say it's a sin if you do it and it takes away from your relations w/ your mate. If you don't deny your mate then it's healthy and very human nature.

its one of the seven sins for catholics, but i dont think it is for all christian denominations. besides, who cares. the ones who made up these rules were just trying to find ways to make everyone else a sinner, so they would look better. (plus, they used to have to pay for confession, so making everything a sin meant everyone had to pay!) if you like it, do it, as long as ur not watching kiddie porn or anything illegal or gross like that!

yes it is a sin. You are pleasuring yourself in a very sinful manner because while you do it you're thinking dirty thoughts. Think of it as fornication with yourself....perdy filthy huh?

There are 6 different types of sex.. only one is approved by God

Masturbation (Sex with self)
Bestiality (Sex with non-human)
Homosexuality (Sex with human- same "plumbing" as self)
Fornication- (you're not married, still having sex)
Adultery- (you're married, but not to sex partner)

The ONLY approved type of sex... Sex with your spouse- legally married, opposite sex.

"For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and cleave unto his wife and NONE ELSE" (emphasis added)
