Ask for a religion/personal waiver. It isn't law (federal or otherwise) that you have to give your children immunizations. They are just recommended. You can waive them even when you enroll your children into school.
And for people who think that immunizations will prevent all illnesses, my children were vaccinated for chickenpox and still got it. As a matter of fact, my two year old had them for two weeks and we had to take him to the ER twice from them. That is after he got them from his then 7 year old brother who had been vacinated for chicken pox when he was little.
They are injecting a virus into you hoping that you will build up enough immunities to that virus. There are people who get the virus from the injections themselves.
Good luck with your research.

Yes they do ask for a current shot record. I know that you have to have them immunized before they can go into daycare or any public school system. Your children not being immunized puts other children and adults at risk for contracting serious illnesses. Simple childhood diseases such as Chickenpox can be life threatening to an elderly person that has never before contracted the disease. I think that you are putting more people at risk by not getting them immunized.

You should be ashamed for putting your children in such preventable danger and your kids should up to date on their immunization regardless. What happens if another kid in their school has measles or mumps and your child is exposed? These immunizations are life saving-just look at all the countries who don't have money to afford them-their children die of the simplest, most preventable diseases ever known. You need to ask yourself-how would you feel if your child died from a disease and YOU could've prevented it?
But-since you asked-yes you do and they will want the shot records and if you ever fall behind when you go every 6 months for their recertification, they'll withhold the checks until the shots are up to date.

They recommend that your record be current. They have never asked to see my records, they only have asked if they are up to date. You can either explain and maybe get your phyician to sign a waiver or something but most likely you are going to have to get those shots for your children before school starts unless you are going to home-school them.

From my experience yes you need to have them up to date and also most schools will not let your child attend if their shots are not current.

I believe they give you something to sign that says you, yourself, chooses not to get your children immunized.

Most health departments will let you sign a "religious or personal waiver".
This should give you time to do your research.

yes they do,but if they are not up to date and you dont havea doctor that you can afford.. they will help you find one. it is federal and state law that your child recieve his/her shots. they must have them all before starting any childcare, or school.
