If your looking for a forgotten relative start
with asking other relatives first.Find out
more personal or detailed information
on that person.Example,birthdate,name at
birth, last known area to have lived.
There are tons of free people search sites
to then look for your relative. If no luck
on finding them dig more for more
info.Go to your county building and do
a search for a marriage license.Then
you'll see there spouses name and be
able to track something from that.
Good luck...

A good start would be, picture yourself or ask anyone in the family for their last encounter with her and who else was present and where was it etc. and then get a list of all those people who have been there as try to contact them first without incurring unnecessary expenses. You be surprised how easy it is to locate someone like that (through people). Also if you have an old address from her, talk to neighbours and butcher etc.

Social Security is the best and only real place to look. You need the name, social security number, place of birth, date of birth, last known residence, and it's better if you find a close relative to collaborate with.

If you have the year of birth or social security number you can do a search that way. Or do a search with the last address or workplace you have for them. Any friends they had you could ask them to see if they know anybody who might know where that relatie is.

try using Zabasearch.com. I have had some success tracking people down using this site. of course if the relative has a common name (like John Smith) you'll have a harder time finding them.

If you know their name then try Genes Reunited. You might get some information there.
Or try www.b4usearch.com where you can search for people on the electoral roll. Bear in mind that if they have chosen to stay off the public register you won't find them on there though.

Try "genes reunited " and see if anyone responds. There are loads of ancestry databases and records you can check. But start by asking your family, because they can be a great source of information.
