You could put chicken wire up around the garden - we use it in my garden and we actually reuse it every year - just roll it up and store it in the attic during the winter. Moth balls may work, but the cat may eat them and then you could have a very sick or dead cat on your hands.

Garden centers sell deer repellant, you might check into whether they make cat repellant as well.

Put a can of food near the edge of the garden. In fact, make sure the critter can't miss it by putting a hand-lettered sign in Cat Language ("Kat Fude") next to the can.

Then, as soon as it starts chowing down, drop one of those giant ACME safes on its head! After a second or two, the safe will tip over and the cat will emerge, shaped like an accordion, and walk away on its hind legs making funny "accordion" sounds.

But even after that, the cat may come back. In which case you'll have to hire Elmer Fud to hunt the wascally fewine.

If none of the above works out, try keeping the soil as moist as possible short of hurting the crops. Cats don't like wetness and soil that clumps won't be an inviting environment for an animal that prefers to bury its business.

put a sandbox a few feet away and he'll use that instead. Or else there are probably some type of plants that cats aren't fond of that you could add to the garden, however I don't know what type of plants that might be.

well you can surround the perimeter of the garden with bleach....it's supposed to make the cat loose the scent trail it's left in your garden...the other you can do is invest in a BB gun.
